Obama laments entrenched power at Ohio State commencement
By REID J. EPSTEIN | 5/5/13 1:24 PM EDT
President Barack Obama is the most powerful man in the world, but he still laments that there is so much still out of his control.
Obama told Ohio State University graduates Sunday that it will be their responsibility to make the world a better place, because forces aligned against them still hold substantial power. The dour commencement address touched on Obamas familiar were-all-together theme and included shots at his regular bogeymen: Wall Street, an obstinate Congress and, of course, the press.
As youve studied and worked and served to become good citizens, the fact is that all too often the institutions that give structure to our society have, at times, betrayed your trust, Obama said. In the run-up to the financial crisis, too many on Wall Street forgot that their obligations dont end with whats happening with their sharex. In entertainment and in the media, ratings and shock value often trumped news and storytelling. In Washington well, this is a joyous occasion, so let me put it charitably: I think its fair to say our democracy isnt working as well as we know it can. It could do better. And so those of us fortunate enough to serve in these institutions owe it to you to do better, every single day.
And while Obama said hes not going to get partisan, he included reminders that its not his fault Washington focuses on the desires of the rich over the needs of the poor and middle class, that even modest gun control reforms failed in the Senate and that his quest for a grand bargain is perpetually delayed by small things.

coming from the MOST DIVISIVE PERSON EVER AFFORDED MEDIA FACE TIME IN THE US.
Don't feel too bad; Ohio gave Jug Ears its electoral college votes. But thanks for the sentiment for Buckeyes like me.
“.....perpetually delayed by small things.
Shall Not Be Infringed, is NOT a small thing.
Hey BaCrock, you should...
Pack up!
Go Home!
It doesn’t surprise me anymore. I figured i had seen everything when he turned a eulogy into a self absorbed fit of ego masturbation.
Yes he has a glass jaw. He’s had a free ride his whole life .
The African communist Ubama has become a freak show.
Wow. What a scumbag.
Geeze ...
This guy is such a frickin whiner, always casting apersions or designating anyone and everything.
It’s gonna make him very ill one day.
What a dick.
I’m a big Ohio State fan. I’d better be, Mrs. Smooth is an alumna! LOL!
Barack Hussein Obama Jr. sounds like his now defunct buddy, Hugo Chavez, more and more with each passing day.
Pig.
At a major state educational institution with its storied history of being a ‘Buckeye (or any other university) nation,’ 0bama decides to talk about entrenched power structures?
Now that’s funny.
Most of the power is entrenched in the federal government. We’re losing control over our own destinies.
You bet. These are the rantings of a narcissist that knows he’s toast and is having trouble coming to terms with the realization of that. The failure doesn’t fit in with his delusions of grandeur. He’s in the anger stage, and as a narcissist he HAS to blame it on someone else, it can’t possibly be HIM. How awful for him to use the graduate’s big day as a time to try and deflect the responsibility of HIS failures.
I wondered why the day turned so dark and gloomy here in Ohio.
One of the happiest days in a young person’s life and Mr Dour Sourpuss shows up to rain on everyone’s parade. What a filthy scumbag. Couldn’t he just once deliver an uplifting speech that would elevate everybody’s spirits...like Regan could do.
I did not realize until this moment that 0bama hears voices.
Such a statement from Politico dosen't surprise me. If more citizens were aware the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, then they would understand the following. Military issues aside, practically the only power that any president has to regulate anythning inside a state's borders is to assist Congress in regulating postal services as evidenced by the Constitution's Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I. Everything else that the feds do to regulate issues within any state's borders is actually based on 10th Amendment protected state powers and associated state revenues which the corrupt feds have wrongly stolen from the states in the form of constitutionally indefensible federal laws and taxes.
It's a know-nothing Party School.
