Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY), Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) now each appear to be positioning themselves in the fight against the push for the Gang of Eight immigration bill in much the same way the Senates Tea Party triumvirate knocked down the lefts push for new gun control legislation.

I believe that any real comprehensive immigration reform must implement strong national security protections, Paul wrote to Reid. The facts emerging in the Boston Marathon bombing have exposed a weakness in our current system. If we don't use this debate as an opportunity to fix flaws in our current system, flaws made even more evident last week, then we will not be doing our jobs.
We should not proceed until we understand the specific failures of our immigration system, Paul added. Why did the current system allow two individuals to immigrate to the United States from the Chechen Republic in Russia, an area known as a hotbed of Islamic extremism, who then committed acts of terrorism? Were there any safeguards? Could this have been prevented? Does the immigration reform before us address this?
In a recent Washington Times op-ed, too, Paul wrote that he is committed to immigration reform that will secure the border, secure the vote and secure the taxpayers money from the welfare state.
Then, during an interview with the Fox News Channels Sean Hannity on his radio program last Wednesday, Hannity, with regard to the Gang of Eight border security provisions, told Paul: I have zero faith it will be done and done right.
I couldnt agree with you more, Paul answered.
Paul has argued that the Gang of Eight plan does not include any provisions like Motor Voter reform that would secure the vote.

We must stop illegals at the border before any immigration bill AKA Amnesty occurs.
If we don’t we will be passing these amnesty bill ad infinitum every few years as this country become annexed by Mexico and their Hispanic speaking Southern neighbors.
An annexation I might add that is approved by many in our Congress.
Another concession would be for Mexico to pay for the construction and maintenance of half of the border security fence. They should agree to move the border south to enhance security in certain areas.
I am more confident with Cruz and Lee than Paul in fighting Rubio-Obama Illegal Alien/Islamic Terrorist Amnesty
I want to see this travesty filibustered. If Cruz or Lee or both filibuster this....they are the front runners in 2016
LOCK AND LOAD BOYS!

What’s with Rush’s love fest with Rubio and defending and giving him cover over this gang of 8 scam. Rush is going to be very disappointed with Rubio in the end.
<><> Deos not keep slobbering illegals out of the welfare trough.
<><> Gives Obomba's militarized DHS even more power.
<><> Gives enormous power over Americans to the corrupt Third World.
<><> Grants amnesty to illegal aliens simply after the DHS Secy submits her jerry-built plans to secure the border;
<><> Grants amnesty to criminals and gang members swarming into the US;
<><> Does not require amnestied illegal aliens to pay back-taxes;
<><> Does not require amnestied illegal aliens to learn English;
<><>Allows illegal aliens to sue the US government for amnesty;
<><> Allows "ethinc solidarity" to reign: lobbies can sue to prevent enforcement measures from taking place before illegal aliens can receive green cards;
<><> Requires taxpayers foot the bill for illegal aliens to fight deportations (at the AGs sole and unreviewable discretion);
<><> Requires only 3 of 9 southern border sectors to have a 90% apprehension rate, leaving the rest in "porous status";
<><> Grants green cards and citizenship after 5 years to illegal aliens claiming (no proof needed) to have come to the US before the age of 16;
<><>Effectively halts all deportations for years by prohibiting deportation until the illegal aliens application is adjudicated;
<><> Extorts "slush funds" amounting to $150 million tax dollars (as a starter) to ethnic solidarity groups like La Raza ( which advocates bloody, violent uprisings agaiinst Americans);
<><> Allows the ethnic solidarity bunch to sue to prevent enforcement measures from taking place before illegal aliens can receive green cards;
<><> Requires taxpayers to foot the bill for illegals to fight deportation.
<><> Requires no penalties for the thousands of illegals w/ forged/faked multiplte identities (a common practice).
<><> Allows illegals to freely slobber at the public trough under several identities.......sending US tax dollars back to their homelands.
<><> Does not include key provisions like Motor Voter reform that would secure the vote.
US politicans aiding and abetting "ethnic solidarity" should be investigated----determine who is giving them their marching orders. We demand prosections for collusion and conspiracy with foreign agents to undermine US ntl security and endanger Americans.
The word is out: "undocumented" terrorists, come on down---invade the US, and bring bombs. It's open season to conduct dirty deeds....and US politicans are helping us."
(more below)
I don’t trust a single one of them. American sovereignty always finds itself on the trading block eventually. Then we’ll be told about how “great” the final deal is for us.
Scratch this one http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/rep-paul-ryan-now-backs-adoption-children-homosexuals, he backs homosexuals adopting children. What other libtard crapola does he back?
We need only secure the entrance to the US and leave the exit wide open. :-)
Create a new ID. Require it to get a paycheck or to get a gov’t freebie. Enforce those two and the illegals will deport themselves. Enforce those two and current Border Patrol staffing can handle the drug smugglers.
Not surprising to me. Not sure what Paul is claiming he is for/against, didnt he recently go to court Hispanics?
Rubio still has McCain, Grahamnesty, Shumer and Durbin on his side for this compromise.
I wouldnt be surprised if Rubio eventually flips on this bill, finding some excuse. .
~ two weeks ago a Rand Paul fan here assured me that he would find an excuse to oppose this bill, while still taking a somewhat compassionate position (rhetoric) on legalization.
looks like this is it.
Right now killing this bill is at the top of our list.
As the details emerge, Rubio loses more and more status, and knows he can kiss his prez aspirations goodbye. He is reduced to saying he wasn't "duped"....and seems to be throwing in the towel w/ his statement that the House won't pass it.
=============================================
But all is not lost (cackle). As I posted yesterday....Rubio can (and should) redeem himself.
All he has to do is name names---name the latino lobbyists who wrote this treasonous bill---name the latinos who cunningly connived to force the "poison of ethnic solidarity" into our laws.
Rube needs to name names...who got paid to endanger Americans, to destroy our culture, to undermine US ntl security, to force the poison of ethnic solidarity down our throats.
We need names so Americans can prosecute and imprison latino lobbyists who wrote the Schumer-Rubio "immigration reform" bill atrocity.
Try this from Rand:
Look Liz, this is not the bill we need. I only recently found out what was in it and it shocked me.
It doesnt protect the border enough. We need to scrap this bill and start over,
Maybe when I am POTUS we can do this right. Millions of immigrants deserve it and are natural conservatives and want the border secure now so they can work hard and pay taxes.
But I want to thank my fellow team eight members for their hard work and dedication on this.
You are ahead of everyone else on this.
On our local AM station WCBM they were pointing out that the gang of eight called illegals in to testify on bill hearings (CSPAN ) but would not allow border patrol or police to testify.
That tells us plenty.
Sorry, I meant Rubio and typed Rand. Poor editing
Initially Rand appeared reluctant to counter Rubio but it is good to see him stepping up. I don’t think it is too much to ask that we have leaders that stand up for the conservative position on immigration which is security first. We can not have a relaxing of legal residency requirements when we don’t even have E-verify requirements for Motor Voter which has shown to have caused the improper registration of countless non citizens when they applied for driver’s licenses. The most notorious case was the fact that 8 of the 9-11 hijackers were registered to vote.
The left has purposely pushed to eliminate distinctions between legal and non-resident drivers licenses and have adamantly refusing to close loopholes but of course motor voter does not just apply to DMV. There has been a big push to expand it to Welfare offices and even in Obamacare. If anyone doesn’t see this as a big problem they have their head in the sand. As illegal aliens are granted legal residency they are certain to be more likely to seek benefits and many more will be registered to vote and many will vote which is effectively canceling out a citizen’s vote.
If the border and the vote is not secured then any relaxed residency program for illegal aliens should be a no go. We can not afford to give this gift to Obama. I know Rubio is trying to make it work but history shows trusting Democrats on anything is just stupid. The better approach is to counter the Democrat meme of being anti-illegal immigrant rather than grant them a path to growing their political dominance. If the GOP wants to improve relations in the Hispanic community they need to actually show up at events and go door to door in Hispanic neighborhoods and talk with Hispanic people because liberalized illegal immigration is not good for them. It will make it harder for them and their children to get jobs and opportunities as well as everyone else. The black community is already bearing the brunt of leaky sieve immigration.
Also the GOP has an opportunity to take a populist path in ways that would be favorable to working class citizens. Companies that apply for work visas could be required to show that they have opened the positions to US citizens first.
Rubio will not flip. He is McCain with a ‘accent’.
