CNN) -- Joshua Gravens can't do a lot of the normal things parents do, like drop his son off at school, attend parent-teacher conferences, or take his daughter to the park, a library or anywhere else children gather.
For the offense of inappropriately touching his 8-year-old sister when he was 12, Gravens, 26, has spent almost half his life as a registered sex offender. The designation subjects him to residency and zoning restrictions that dictate where he can live and spend time. It has also made him the target of harassment, death threats and hampered his ability to find a job or keep a home, he said.
As he sees it, his wife and four children are still paying the price for what he did as a child.
"The biggest effect is obviously not being able to provide stable housing and a stable environment," said Gravens, who lives in Dallas. "I have missed two first days of school, experiences which can never be re-lived."

Uhh... words... they escape me on this one. Parenting FAIL.
I never thought registry was about to ‘do good’ for sex offenders. This article is an insight!
"His parents had to lock him in his room each night and place locks on his windows that would set off an alarm if he tried to open them during the night. If he had to go to the bathroom he would have to bang on the door until someone let him out."
Twelve is old enough to recognize the seriousness of this offense, but I recognize the sense of ongoing punishment.
Did his wife and family know of this? If so, the wife at least should have known what was coming.
I feel bad for this guy, but not sorry.
They call them an 18 year old dating a 17 year old I understand. Even 19 and 17. But 8 and 12 and they’re siblings? That’s wrong on so many levels.
Schools are encouraging such experimentation.
The Sex Positive agenda believes in no moral judgments over sexual pairings of any kind regardless of sex, age, marital status, relation, number, or species of partner(s).
When will educrats be prosecuted for corrupting minors?
As usual, a good idea goes horribly wrong in our PC culture. If someone is a true sex offender — like an adult who molests kids or a teenager who rapes someone — its a good idea to know they are in your area. But the definition of sex offender has been so twisted out of proportion that anyone who does anything can be deemed a sex offender. Here’s an idea — limit the list to sex crimes that 90% + of the population would agree are sex crimes.
Those people should be in only one area - the graveyard.
Some how “oh poor baby” does not apply to HIM in this case in my mind.
Liberals are all about destroying any acountability for the sins of life.
I would feel a little pity for him if they had rightfully executed the little rapist.
