Eagle Scout Facing Expulsion over Gun Charge (more insanity by school system)

Eagle Scout Cole Withrow was just a few weeks from graduating with honors from his North Carolina high school, but now the active church member is facing a felony weapons charge and a precarious future after accidentally leaving a shotgun in his pickup truck in the school parking lot.

Most members of the Johnston County community, just southeast of Raleigh believe the 18-year-old is paying far too big a price for an honest mistake. Withrow had been skeet shooting with friends a day before, and only noticed he had left his shotgun in his truck on Monday morning as he reached to grab his book bag, said family friend Kimberly Boykin. When he realized his mistake, rather than leave school grounds, he went to the front office to call his mother for help.

“He didn’t know what to do,” Boykin, whose son is friends with Withrow, told Fox News. “If you jump in the truck and leave, then they get you for skipping school. Once you are there you have to say.

“I think it’s an injustice for this young man,” she added. “He’s a good guy. He’s loved by his classmates and his teachers. You don’t become an Eagle Scout by being a bad seed.”

It’s not so much the kid’s mistake, it is the MAGNITUDE of his mistake and his disregard for the safety of others. There is a very real possibility that the shotgun, if left unattended, will jump up, grab some shells, load itself, open the truck door and run amok on school grounds, slaughtering indescriminately. This kind of negligence needs to be hammered without pity or remorse! He knows how dangerous, willful and brutal shotguns can be, yet he left it alone in his truck, ON SCHOOL GROUNDS! For the children!!!

I’m becoming more and more convinced that we absolutely need to starve the public school administrators of funding. No more raises for them again—ever. No administrative position vacancy gets filled—let them adjust and “make do” with their gradually reducing work force. Time and inflation will gradually do its duty to this stupid class of “public servants”—they’ll eventually go elsewhere and possibly do some actual productive work.

It is obvious that School Teachers have no common sense whatever.

They need zero tolerance because they are not smart enough to handle the slightest thing that comes up out of the ordinary.

If they are not smart enough to handle things why are they teaching school. Certainly they need a Union. Somebody has to think for them.

Go after the school boards and MAKE them stop this madness or vote them out. Fire the school administrators who promote this stupidity. Show them “no tolerance” for stupidity.

Nice find. The disparity in treatment of a school official who knowingly brought a LOADED handgun onto campus and a student who unknowingly brought an UNLOADED gun onto the parking lot in a locked car shows their degree of hypocracy. This is a snippet from your linked article:

The words I capitalized brings into focus how these public school “types” are completely incapable of using judgment. The fact was that he didn't realize (i.e., not “KNOWINGLY”) he was bringing it onto campus until he arrived at school. Besides being hypocrites, these “public school officials” are complete idiots—incapable of thought.

Most of them could be fired and would not be missed in the least.

Here is a list of salaries of the bureaucrats involved. The Superintendent gets $214,000.00 per year plus benefits, retirement, and vacation to generate buzzwords. The spokesperson gets $74,000.00 for her loyalty to stupidity.
