A New Hampshire man who thought he had a decent ball toss says he lost his life savings—or about $2,600—playing a carnival game he claims was rigged.

Henry Gribbohm told WBZ-TV that he was attempting to win an Xbox Kinect at the Manchester carnival when things went awry.

The 30-year-old from Epsom, N.H., was playing a game called Tubs of Fun in which contestants toss balls into a tub, but the balls kept popping out.

“It’s not possible that it wasn’t rigged,” Gribbohm said. “You just get caught up in the whole ‘I’ve got to win my money back.’”

Sigh- If you can’t trust carnies, who can you trust? Seriously, what’s this losers next move- suing the racetrack when his horse doesn’t win?

I also lost my life savings at the carnival...twice. Once when I was 11. The second time I was older and got out of the deal with court-ordered monthly payments.

Twice at the ball-toss, no less!

Carnival games are rigged? Shocked I am. Is there a darwin award for people who didn’t die?

Actually he wasn’t gambling. He was being robbed by deceit. The carnival operators were not risking anything.

He is trying to win an Xbox Kinect attachment which goes for only about $100. He probably already has an Xbox console.

Give the guy a little credit...I know at 30 years old I didn't have a life saving of $2,600...

But I was married with 5 kids...so guess I have an excuse...

Life savings = $2600

About 2 bucks a week for 25 years with no interest. Great plan.

Paging PT Barnum! Emergency call on the emergency red phone!

This guy should have played "toss the golf ball into the wine bottle." Or maybe "balance the cannonball on the point of a pencil."

***I recall when I was in college one of my friends lost every cent he had on him at the one where you toss the ball at a bulls eye hoping the ball falls into a hole in the bottom of the basket.***

I had a carny try that with me back in 1963. First he let me practice. Every ball hit and fell through the hole.
You could tell by the sound that there was something solid behind the basket center.

So I tried. The balls hit and went “bonk, bonk, bonk, bink”
and the last ball bounced out. I knew right then that the game was rigged.

I never did figure out exactly how they did it but I did notice the back of the basket had a box around 8 inches deep, when there was no reason for there to be anything back there.

Clearly some mechanism but I have no idea how he worked it.

A rigged carnival game. A wet ocean. Who knew?

And, in other news, the sun set at the end of this day!
