A freeper in post 3 believes Gomez was well funded.

And IIRC Auh2orepublican said people were pimping him as a conservative, one quick check of his issue positions is all you need to disabuse you of that notion.

Sounds like he’s a damn liar, basically.

I don’t know about protest vote for Jack E. Robinson though, sounds like he is also a social liberal. He’s for faggotry and calls himself a progressive Republican, there is a youtube video from his primary run against Brown where I guess he ran to the left of Brown.

His use of his middle initial is an obvious ploy for votes, and he did so poorly against Kennedy that he really should not run for anything again, ever. And he doesn’t even a have a website to confirm his views. Everything about him screams loser.

Yeah, some supposed Tea Party folks were claiming that Gomez was the “grassroots conservative” in the race, but in reality he supports federal and state recognition of same-sex “marriage,” wouldn’t oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, and donated to Obama’s campaign. I think by “grassroots” they meant that he’s never been elected to any office, and by “conservative” they mean that ... well, actually, I have no idea what they mean by that. I guess that saying that “we need to slash government spending,” with nothing to back that up, is enough for some folks to consider an Obama-supporting social liberal to be a “conservative.” And, yes, he was well financed, raising quite a bit of money late in the campaign and airing a lot more ads than his primary opponents (including the more conservative Sullivan).

Gomez is a turd sandwich, far, far worse than Scott Brown (who compiled the least bad voting record for a Massachusetts Senator in at least 65 years). Would he be preferable to Markey? Of course—I’m sure Gomez will cast a good vote once in a while, while Markey never will (even when Markey does something with which I agree, such as expanding Daylight Savings Time, he screws up by making it start way too early in March instead of just having added the last week in March and the first week of November). But unless Gomez explains exactly how he is different from a typical Democrat, I wouldn’t lift a finger for him.

As for Jack E. Robinson, he’s a liberal “Republican” gadfly whose only political value is running for offices for which no Republican will bother to file. I don’t think that he’s even worthy of a protest vote—that would be like refusing to cast one’s vote for Romney in the presidential general election and voting for Lincoln Chafee instead.
