Ron Paul, in a posting on the website of a libertarian activist, accused US law enforcement of 'a military-style occupation of an American city' in its response to the Boston bombing. Former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul has slammed US law enforcement for responding to the Boston Marathon bombing with “police state tactics.” In a post on the website of libertarian activist Lew Rockwell, Mr. Paul said Monday that the governmental reaction to the tragic explosions was worse than the attack itself...

We can now declare martial law and float a lie to avoid early scrutiny. We can lie and say he had a gun and attempted suicide.

What if an in innocent person (or family) had been negligently shot dead during this shelter in place order in Boston, what story would the float to keep people calm? That’s just part of the sausage making process now, right? That’s how they serve the greater good.

How do you reel this all back in? We’ve crossed the rubicon, this stuff is reminiscent of the Russian KGB or East German Stazi.

Once the local/city/state law enforcement is starved for ammo and the Feds have 1.7 billion rounds, won’t they be easy to defacto federalize? => you bet, those proud men, they’ll cum cheap!

Are the FBI that incompetent??

I've known some. I'd say restricted instead of incompentent.

They are driven by chain of command and aren't big on open-source problem solving.

Paul is correct.

Not only did their SWAT tactics go entirely too far in dragging people out of their houses for no reason, the entire event was a replay of the Keystone Cops.

Even down to the capture of the remaining bad guy.

A tracking dog could have found him in minutes.

My neighbor can follow the blood trail of a wounded deer at 10:00 PM, pitch black dark with nothing more than a flash light...no dog needed.

When other hunters lose their deer, they call on him to find it.

And then to top it all of, some scared about to pee in his pants cop fires a shot, causing all of the other cops to think they were being shot at so they fire away like crazy.

And then we find out that the BG didn’t even have a gun.

And to top it all off, the local cops, FBI, mayor and who knows who else all go on TV and congratulate each other on what a great job they did.

But then what do you expect from a state that would elect the likes of Ted Kennedy, Kerry and the rest of the crazy libs that run the state and the city.

They deserved it, though they were too obtuse to know it was punishment.

As far as I could tell, they were contained, focused on the suspect

BS...They were searching dozens of homes willy-nilly..Homes which were not even involved with this suspect...

If some homeowner had not made a phone call, tipping them off, I guess they'd still be searching homes in Boston...

The only thing they were focused on was putting on a big show for the ruling class.

I have yahoo as my home page and the comments are overwhelmingly conservative. Yahoo headlines and stories would make Orwell blush.

I agree the Boston police went way too far. Shier totalitarianism measures were not only pointless(taking everyone off the streets did not enable them to find the terrorist and indeed hindered the effort.)

The Boston police & political leaders effectively gave to the terrorist a far greater achievement than they could ever have imagined. They allowed by proxy the terrorist to shut down an entire city and forced everyone to hide in their homes in fear.

What on earth do did Massachusetts’s political leaders think the terrorist were trying to do?

“So Mr Constitution, how would you have handled it?

Saying you would obey the constitution is a cop out. You could do nothing and remain in compliance with the constitution.”

Under the Federal constitution the only thing Washington can do is secure the ports of exit from theses wanted men. (which presumably they were doing.)

The State Constitution is an entirely different matter on which I cannot speak. All I can do is point out that Mass’s politicians gave the terrorist a far greater impact upon the city than they could ever have achieved on their own and they did this for no good reason. Their efforts to find the terrorist were not aided by locking up everyone in their homes but instead hindered.

This is the age of information everybody knows what the guy looks like particularly the people at the ports of entry and exit. The only way hes going to elude capture is if there is nobody on the streets to recognize him.

lol its always amusing how pointlessly totalitarian the liberals really are when it comes to treating thier own.

When they treat our kind that way I get mad like the rest of y’all.

but here its funny. If this terrorist was armed and intent on killing a buch of folks their own goverment has provided him with a perfect bounty of traps. Just cut the phone-lines and enter the largely disarmed households and shoot anyone you want, or better yet uses anther bomb.

Its not like there is is much in the way of folks wondering the streets to stop or recognize you. Just a police force illegally searching homes for someone that doesn’t want to be found.

They are lucky this terrorist didn’t have a gun or any more bombs or they really would have had a serous problem with the situation their ‘all knowing’ government left their citizens in.
