Yeah, I think they started going to Philly and it just petered out. For nearly a week in the Spring, people just shut down businesses and avoided Atlanta. It was awful. If you did live in Downtown, or had to work, they would ask you what you were doing there. (The roving gangs) Women were literally raped on the sidewalk. It was like a freaking zoo. Atlanta finally blocked it by putting every police officer on patrol and fizzled out. You can’t have ‘fun’ if there are cops on every corner.

This was in the early 90’s.

Belmar NJ never got that bad, but it was bad enough that it was hurting other businesses. Could you imagine, in the modern consumer economy, people not even wanting you to show up?

It boggles the mind.
