BURLINGTON, Vt., April 29, 2013 — The George W. Bush Presidential Library is now living history. The Southern Methodist University campus will house some of the most important documents spanning one of the most consequential periods in American history.
Mr. Bush, affably known by nicknames “43,” “Dubya,” and “The Dub,” entered office after a disputed election. His first few months saw him ram through supply-side tax cuts that turned around a slowing economy he “inherited” from his predecessor. Despite a NASDAQ collapse of over 90 percent, Bush did not spend one minute complaining about his circumstances or blaming anybody else. He rolled up his sleeves and went to work. His promise upon taking office was to “restore honor and dignity to the White House.” After eight years of endless scandals during the prior administration, he did exactly that.
On September 11, 2001, radical Islamists from al Qaeda hijacked American airplanes and flew them into the two World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon. A fourth plane destined for the White House was diverted when brave passengers took the plane back. United 93 would crash in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. New York was ground zero of a war America never asked or. Yet after almost four decades of presidents unwilling or unable to take the fight overseas, President George W. Bush launched a Global War on Terror.
He left office with toxic poll numbers, but has seen a revival as Americans come to appreciate and respect the hard choices he made during the toughest of times.
The left always hated him, felt he stole the 2000 election, and never gave him the decency and respect that an American leader deserves. Yet an honest look...

Some truth to that. Bush was unpopular on both sides which made it easy for dems to gain traction. conservatives split the vote which allowed a weak nominee like Romney to get in. demographic shifts & voter fraud. MSM indoctrination. So there is a lot of blame to go around and many reasons.
Look, Bush was an innocent, powerless bystander...How was he supposed to stop millions from entering the country illegally, during war time?
Hey, was it his fault his Homeland Security Boss Chertoff, was found to have people who entered the country illegally?...During war time?
Was it Bush's fault more Muslims entered the U.S. AFTER 911 than the previous two decades?

I was a rabid Bush-bot in 2002 like some of these folks but by late 2006 after those midterms I realized how mistaken I was about him and that things would just be getting worse and worse and they did.
I remember the days you are thinking of as things snowballed out of control 2005 to 2006 and my hopes that Bush would prove them all wrong, He made a fool out of his believers.
I am glad he does not get on TV repeating all those lame excuses that his bots do, that would be pathetic.
He now honors the office he held by not being petty.

I agree with you, you have to go back to Ronald Reagan to find a better president, and beyond that all the way back to Calvin Coolidge. Of course Reagan was beyond good or great, he was extraodinarily unique. We may never get that lucky again.

I just spent over a damn hour trying to find an old article post around the time Bush left on here from the Cato institute or something that showed how Bush stunk in his tenure and was not conservative. Sadly it is MIA and hard to find now. But that is ok. Bush stunk. He wasn’t conservative.
Ronald Reagan was the last great POTUS.

He's like the GOP equiv of Carter in some ways and in others he's the GOP equiv of LBJ.
Like Carter he left a bunch of big messes behind and both being distrusted by most Americans at the ends of their terms, but like Johnson he signed us up for wars and new entitlements and tried the civil rights (amnesty) play but failed at it unlike Johnson.
Those two Dems were oone termers but GWB second term was a nightmare.

He did. In addition to committing treason. Like I posted earlier. Obama knew the danger to Benghazi, could have prevented it, and did NOTHING. Bush knew the danger Obama as a domestic enemy posed to America, could have prevented it, and did NOTHING. NOTHING.
I didnt write that essay but I thought it was pretty accurate.
I sure am not getting gunned up for Syria invasion listening to McCain and Grahamnesty bark on TV.
That is a smoke screen to cover their latest positions supporting Obama.
