Two unnamed U.S. officials have told the Associated Press that the surviving suspect in the Boston bombings was unarmed when police captured him hiding inside a boat in a neighborhood back yard. The report contradicts the Boston police department's own account of Dzhokar Tsarnaev's capture on Friday - after commissioner Ed Davies described a firefight between him and officers before the terror suspect was captured.
The New York Times also said an M4 rifle had been found on the boat - another claim contradicted by the latest revelations.

From the Daily Mail and from what has been reported here in Boston as well: The MIT police officer who was executed in his patrol car on Friday morning was drawn into a trap by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects - who killed him for his gun - it has been claimed.
Sean Collier, 27, died from multiple gunshot wounds in the early morning hours of Friday as he responded to a noise complaint.
The motivation for that murder was at first unclear, but police now believe that the suspects shot him in order to steal his gun.
CBS News reported that Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were armed with just one gun and a pellet gun, and may have been looking to broaden their arsenal.
The network reported that the brothers' efforts to take Collier's gun were unsuccessful because he had a locking system in his holster.
Less than an hour later, police caught up with the suspects, engaging them in a wild shootout in which Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed.
His brother Dzhokhar managed to escape, but was caught on Friday evening as he hid in a boat in a Watertown backyard.
The revelation came as the young police officer was laid to rest in an emotional scene at a church in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
Family, friends and colleagues lined the streets to pay their respects to Collier, a 27-year-old Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer who was killed in the line of duty.
A private funeral Mass for Officer Collier was held on Tuesday at St Patrick's Church.

I have been saying for days that this guy does not look like he shot himself in the throat
AND NOW WE KNOW HE DIDNT
HE HAD NO GUN
Get the sheeple used to the idea, so when you do it again you'll have a precedent.
You are missing the point.
Police said they were being fired at.
Couldn’t have been
NO GUN
Police said bomber shot himself in the throat with a gun
COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT
NO GUN
So you’re off of the photo and now on to some other discrepancy. I’m shocked. Not. There will be enough to keep you going for at least a few weeks, or until the next event you latch onto.
You’re slipping RC, as I heard two days ago that there was no gun found on the boat and that the firefight was onesided.
But you’ll have to help understand the contradiction here. It is clear (from the photos) that the boat was shot up pretty good. In a firefight. Which the cops mistakenly believed that Tsarnaev was part of.
You are walking over backwards to defend this disaster.
Yes, he could have had a gun and dropped it anywhere in Watertown.
that doesn’t change the fact that he couldnt have been shooting from the BOAT BECAUSE HE HAD NO GUN
Why did they call it a “shootout” when only the cops had guns. If they had killed him, would it have been reported as “gunned down the unarmed suspect”? (Not that I would not have disapproved in this case).
Oh so you knew two days ago that Police were lying...eh???
How convenient for you as I was saying that he didn’t shot himself in the throat.
Sure enough.
He didn’t.
Who knows if he really is shot in the throat. Just because they say he is.... We will not see him. And he cannot talk (yeah right) so we will not hear from him. How very convenient.
efforts to take Collier’s gun were unsuccessful because he had a locking system in his holster.
Maybe this play a part in his death, unable to draw his weapon quickly. I wasn’t there but as a veteran LEO having a holster that you cannot manipulate quickly is a bad deal. Weapon retention is a physical and mental task not a mechanical one. Could be interesting if this “locking” holster was mandated by the department as a liberal gun control wasted effort and the liability ramifications.
Suspect #1 - the older dead brother had a gun, he was shooting at the cops. There are pics somewhere on FR where you can see him.
I’m sorry, I just don’t trust “US officials”
There have been a lot of misinformation about what police said or didn’t say from the news sources.
“Police would not confirm if Dzhokhars throat injury was the result of a suicide attempt or a police officers bullet.”
This is what I have seen in a few accounts.
If the cops had a prolonged gunfight with him and he was without a gun, that speaks of several things. Maybe they just wanted him dead (dead men tell no tales). Maybe the cops need a lot more range time since they can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Maybe they are lieing about him shooting him self in thr throat. Maybe he can talk, but they are trying to silence him before they get him out of the country. Maybe the communist penetration of our government is greater than any of us think or know. Definitely, this administration is composed of Free-America-hating LIB subhuman degenerates (from the to9p down).
Reports here were that Collier never saw it coming. It’s been reported that the bothers had left the 7-11 which they did NOT rob, (it was reported they robbed it but cops say they had nothing to do with it) they saw Collier, panicked and thought he recognized them so they ambushed/assassinated him and then tried to get the gun. And yes it would be interesting to find out why Collier’s gun holster was locked. He was on duty that nite so I don’t know if he was taking a break? at that time and when on a break the holster has to be locked? or if this is something that MIT requires, or the MIT police dept. We may never know.
“And a LYING police force
EVERYTHING is suspect now.”
But you believe “Two unnamed U.S. officials”
Locking gun holsters...
I know that, the topic is on suspect 2.
FEDERAL law enforcement officials.
Are contradicting LOCAL law enforcement
that should tell you something
Amazing how we always seem to get this new info from the foreign press.
