LOS ANGELES | Tue Apr 23, 2013 9:38pm EDT

(Reuters) - The city of Los Angeles will pay $4.2 million to a mother and daughter who were caught in a hail of bullets in February when police mistook their truck for one driven by renegade ex-policeman Christopher Dorner and opened fire, officials said on Tuesday.

The settlement, which allows both sides to avoid a trial, brings the Los Angeles Police Department nearer to closing what had been an embarrassing chapter in its search for Dorner. The department still is reviewing the actions of two officers.

There is just NO excuse for the cops peppering their car when it didn't even resemble Dorner's vehicle.

There is no excuse for LE to open fire on ANY vehicle unless they are being fired upon. They were not. They attempted an assassination. The women are very lucky they are alive.

The officers should be brought up on charges.

Thank you for figuring out my life philosophy/ideology. Guess I'm more transparent than I thought.

Right. I'm scared. Sometimes I need someone to remind me of how fearful I am. You're a wise person to remind me how lost I am within the problems of the World. I so often need such guidance. Thank you so much. Very thoughtful of you to point out my failings. I will now work towards better fulfillment of my life. Where should I start? Give me direction, please.

Bullets made their holes. The taxpayers (probably Federal) will have to make them “whole” after call-e-forn-ea declares bankruptcy.

Think nothing of it. It wasn't at all difficult.

Give me direction, please.

I charge. Maybe your clergyman, siblings or wife can assist you.

You should file ethics charges against the attorney representing the victims.

What a ripoff of the taxpayers. they should get $200.000 at most and deportation orders. One of them got minor injuries and the other zilch.

Probably the City of Los Angeles figured they would get a dumbass ethnic OJ jury that would give this duo millions anyway

There was no good excuse for “these” LE officers to fire into the “back” of “this” vehicle. None.

You think I’m wrong? Tell me how.

With the high turnover of ownership of Hollywood mansions (they’re within L.A. aren’t they?) the city and county of L.A. are probably not hurting for cash, despite the old Prop 13.

"It should be ten times that and cone from the Police pension fund."

No sh*t. While mostly being a LEO supporter, I was aghast that the LAPD was so paranoid and trigger-happy about Dorner that they opened fire without knowing who the occupants were, not to mention not even the same type of truck. Yes, at night certain colors blend, but different makes of trucks, please. Street cops know different makes/models. That's why they're called "street" cops.

I didn't bother to ask the Alaskan above, but what would he think if a local bank robber had a SUV/truck and was the object of a nation-wide manhunt? So he's driving down the road on his way home and his somewhat similar SUV gets shot to pieces out of nowhere and for no reason? Guess that would be okay with him - not. He'd sue them into oblivion and I would support him. Again, those cops should be shit-canned. Period.

A terrorist driven van load of explosives driving toward an occupied school, courthouse, stadium, home, etc.. A vehicle being used to assault a person.

"Maybe your clergyman, siblings or wife can assist you."

To be honest, I have no "siblings" and my wife doesn't care about this nonsense, so I guess it's a "clergyman". Any particular persuasion that will actually listen to my stuff? I'm not religious so don't know who has the best ideas within Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, et al. I don't know their thinking and how their doctrine could help.

What about a secular therapist, which I've considered?

Would it be important what I write on the Internet when discussing my points that I'm so clearly adamant about? I don't get how it could work. I'm 63 and pretty much set in my ways. I talk crap after having some cocktails, so how would that work?

You're not dead yet so try them all out.

Maybe a psychiatrist would be more beneficial in your case.

Yes...or at least pay hospital, truck and maybe 50k or so for pain and suffering. This is ridiculous.

Thank you, Sir. Good job, you didn't entirely fall for it. That gives you major points. I sincerely like you. Sorry to have outed you, but you WERE asking for it. C'mon, you know you were.

We may have our disagreements, but you are cool.
Psychiatrist? Therapist? Clergyman? Really? I'm too far gone for them. LOL!

Bet in real life we would have some beers and laugh our ass off. Or you might punch me out. Either way, it would be funny. Have a great night and enjoy your life. Alaska is beautiful and I thank you for the conversation. My suggestion, lighten up. Your soul is solid.
