CNN in talks with Newt Gingrich, Stephanie Cutter for new 'Crossfire' show
Politico ^ | April 23, 2013 | Dylan Byers

Earlier this month, news broke that CNN was looking to relaunch Crossfire, the famous debate show that pitted two pundits -- one liberal, one conservative -- against one another on the political issues of the day.

Sources now tell POLITICO that the network is in discussions with former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and former Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter about roles on the show.

"They are talking to Cutter and to Gingrich," a source familiar with the discussions said. "[Cutter] is in discussions; Newt is in discussions too," another source confirmed.

The first cable news network that figures out that if it ran a show, in prime time, with a cast of only conservatives, or a single conservative they would completely dominate ratings.

Even FoxNews would benefit. Personally I can't stand that idiot on at 8 pm EST, and Hannity and Greta just don't cut it.

Yep....anything that gets Newt’s brain on TV is OK with me.

Just wish it was on a channel people watched.

I’ve pretty much quit the television but I will tune in if Newt is going to have a show.

If Newt is true to his track record,

we’ll hear that he’s dumped Callista

and is going to marry Stephanie.

I don’t personally see any benefit of wasting an hour watching someone who I believe spent their entire time in the Obama administration lying their ass off.

PASS

This would not be a fair show. Not even close. Would be worse that Hannity vs moron. Newt would end up in prison for the repeated evisceration of Stephanie Cutter.

I’ve got a great Echo and the Bunnymen song to name the show after.

Linda Grahmnesty could be the first guest and Newt could tell her, “Linda, you stupid slut.”

Might be interesting for a while, but may end up going the way of Hannity and Colmes. I found that I could not stand to listen to Colmes, and I’m sure many libs could not stomach Hannity. I do know this: the second I see Cutter’s face on the TV, I change the channel. Can’t stand her duplicitous, deceitful rhetoric.
