Of course you're right.
I had a friend (sadly, deceased now) who was a sniper in Viet Nam. Great sense of humor, slow to anger but awesome to behold when he did. And his anger was always justified; he had good judgment.
Friend of mine said that he did two really stupid things while in Viet Nam. One is relevant to the discussion: something zipped by overhead when he was in a hole and he stuck his head out to see what it was and a second thing zipped past. At that point he reaized that was stupid and made like a turtle.
“Dog an’ pony” psy-op as much as a “Search and Acquire”.
Gotta take the gear out and get it dirty at some point.
This is what New Orleans looked like when these guys went door to door.
No choice, open up or the door is coming down. Got firearms? Hands up in the air, show us where they are.
Martial Law. This is what it looks like.
It would go exactly like it did in New Orleans and Boston.
During Martial Law....you gottie no choice. If they decide to come in with or without a warrant, better comply or you’z gonna have a few more orifices.
I think you are much closer to the business, than I. I am picking up only about 90% of what you’re saying.
I am actually glad to hear, that in your view, they look amaturish and a threat to themselves.
Somehow, that makes me sleep easier.
I hope any military personell advising them will do their patriotic duty and slip them some mis-information from time to time, also.
I don’t really understand what these searches are suppose to accomplish anyway. There must be hundreds of places someone could hide in a house. There’s no way they looked under every bed, in every cupboard, crawl space etc. So what good does it do? All it did was lock everybody down as well as the suspect. They couldn’t keep them that way forever. Then they tell people they can now come out even though they don’t know for sure the suspect isn’t there somewhere (obviously) so yeah just a practice run like you say.
Ok... Here’s a “for instance”. Notice how close they are together in all of their action shots? There should be a minimum of 5 meters between them in open movement between buildings and on the streets.
Why?
Glad you asked. When you are bunched up, an IED can hit more of you with one boom, especially stupid when you are hunting someone who is known to be making... IED’s. You are more likely to muzzle cover each other trying to orient your weapons to point of contact. This means you are pointing the bad end of your gun at your buddies. Friendly fire is a no-no. The way they were carrying their firearms also indicates that if someone had tripped, something would have gone “bang” and everyone else on the street would have adrenalin dumped every round they had on them in which ever direction they thought they heard the bang come from.
At a later date we can discuss Sgt Sugercookie climbing fences, Cpl Tackleberry rousting the locals, Gunny “I have no idea what binoculars are” Johnson using his weapon sight to ID locals, and the general stupidity of using a HUMVEE when it isn’t needed.
This was a "show of force". Be seen "doing something". All that money, all those new toys, nice clean uniforms in the latest Dreadnaught Black... Makes for great camera photos to put on the 5 o'clock news.
Was it an EOTech?
;o)
I wasn’t aware that the police in Boston put it’s citizens in the gas chambers. Must have missed that one.
They could have put those citizens anywhere they wanted from what I saw....
It appears we are allowed to leave our homes when the cops say we can. When did that happen?
Respectfully submitted, your dismissal of 'it hasn't happened yet' is known as Normalacy Bias. One of my better friends, Travis McGee, will remind you that the most common phrase uttered by people who have gone through the anarchy of Argentina; the horrors of Bosnia; and the mass-murders of the then-most-civilized Germany, is this: "We never thought such a thing could happen here."
It is important to remain vigilent, so that you, yourself, do not utter this phrase in your later years.
Couldn’t tell. The photo I’m referring to was taken by a Resident from his upstairs window. Gunny in the turret of a Hummer was using his rifle’s optics to peep in peoples windows...
I did note that I didn’t see any EOTech’s mounted backwards. ;-)
Lots of guys that looked like they’d never had their gear in the dirt before.
No one jumps right to the hard stuff. It all starts somewhere. Somewhere, a lot like this.
Learn from history or don’t bitch when it repeats on you.
Could of? Or did?
You are the one that made the comparison.
Ok.
