A caller tonight phoned in bomb threats at three north Alabama hospitals, according to The Huntsville Times' news partner WHNT News Channel Channel 19.
According to WHNT, bomb threats were made at Cullman Regional Medical Center as well as Marshall Medical Centers in Guntersville and Boaz. A male caller said that bombs would go off at all three hospitals at the same time, WHNT reports.
The Cullman Times reported that the call was received at about 9 p.m. and that authorities expected to be finished sweeping the Cullman hospital at about 10:30 p.m.
Patients were being evacuated at the Cullman hospital, according to the Cullman Times.
ABC 33/40 reports that Cullman Regional Medical Center was cleared of any threat before 11 p.m. The Cullman hospital, which ordered an evacuation, then began moving patients back inside. There were 55 patients at the time.
The patients had been transferred to Woodland Health Care Center in the meantime.
Claudette DeMuth, spokeswoman for Marshall Medical Center North, told AL.com that both campuses in Guntersville and Boaz were cleared by authorities and remain under police surveillance. She said the hospitals have been cooperating with police in all municipalities.
Dumuth said that evacuation was not recommended based on police directions in both municipalities.Arab police say that a press release regarding the threats should be issued shortly.

Or is your refrigerator running ..
Correct but not complete. I'm from Alabama and we pronounce it "ay' rab" with the emphasis on the "ay" and being careful to not put the tiny "ee" at the end of "ay" in accordance with correct Southern speech.
I live in Cullman 20 miles away. Supposedly, the town was supposed be named after a guy named Arad Thompson. When they got the incorporation papers in Montgomery, they thought it was an error and changed it to “Arab”, pronounced Aaaay-rab. Of course, the school mascot is the Arabian Knights.
Arab is a small town on Brindlee Mountian in Northern Alabama. It is a cool place and is conservative as it comes.
Did you ever find out if they let him out?
Back in my day the worst thing we did will call the local convenience store and ask if they had Prince Albert in a can when we felt like being smart asses.
“You’d better let him out”.
That’s right.
Back in my day the worst thing we did will call the local convenience store and ask if they had Prince Albert in a can when we felt like being smart asses.
Or to be really bad, we’d call someone named Dunn and tell them they’d better wipe.
And where I grew up we all had a .22 by the time we were 14 and learned to shoot way earlier than that. etc., etc., etc.
I was born in 1951 and I’d say we’re close in age.
Got ya by about 8 years but close enough.

Typical after such events as happened last week.
