WASHINGTON Sen. Rand Paul is calling for conservatives to embrace the cause of immigration reform, outlining a proposal that would grant some form of legal status to the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants after the federal government has certified that the border is secure.
Pauls proposal, outlined in a speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington on Tuesday, carefully avoided the term citizenship. Instead, the Kentucky senator said he sought a middle ground that would include a multi-year process of granting visas to undocumented workers that would hinge on the annual verification of the security of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Paul echoed the key finding of an internal review from the Republican National Committee that called for the party to recast its image in order to attract minority voters, saying the GOP must change the perception of the party as anti-immigrant.
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration.

Yeah let’s give all the illegals Amnesty..I mean really..what could possibly go wrong..*cough* Tamerlan Tsarnaev *cough*
President had a good plan - catch ‘em, load ‘em on a ship, when it was full take ‘em to Mexico City area; come back and do it again.
We need to do that AND stay on our Congresscritters to stay with the constitution, and make lots of noise about the lack of them doing what WE, THE PEOPLE want them to do!
Read it and weep: From the La Times

Secure the border:
Anyone who calls on conservatives to embrace anything whatever that is contrary to conservative principles ought to simply stop calling. Enough.
Nice filibusters, Rand. Been nice knowing you.
I left out WHICH President! It certainly wasn’t THIS one! It was President Eisenhower!!!!!!!!!!!
March 19.
Whose posting this stuff?
WEll, Rand ought to come out with something on this. He’s too close to it anyway.
But this is a dupe.
I don’t believe one damn thing reported by the LA Times or the NY Times either. Occasionally the Washingtom Post reports truth, but LA/NY Times? Never.
I’m hip.
But who’s posting month old articles?
Cram it where the sun don’t shine Rand!
Paul web site states Pauls’ position on illegals. Not nearly as strong as I would like on this issue but miles and miles away from Linda, McCrazy and Rubios’ position.
I think the Ron Paul haters have decided to transfer their hatred from the father to the son. It’s a jihadist kindof thing.
There’s that, too.
“how quickly they switch...”
That is one of the most discouraging aspects of this whole thing.
I’ve worked pretty hard for “TEA” party candidates and they all seem to be crapping out.
I fear we are in deep, deep trouble.
Here’s his strategy in a nutshell:
Rand is making noises to sound reasonable.
Rand is going to offer a bunch of amendments which will no doubt be defeated.
Rand will vote against the bill because it’s horrible and will do his best to explain why to hispanics
I’ve followed him since 2009 along with Mike Lee and Ron Johnson.
These guys are solid.
I have faith that he won’t endorse or vote for a bad bill but he’s going to do it in a way to make sure the message gets through that he supports doing something just not this.
Wow, Sen. Paul, I just read last week that you had started a PAC for a 2016 Presidential run, Good Luck with that.
Rand, Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Ron johnson, Tim Scott won’t crap out. These guys are solid and i’ve got faith in them.
Some on here like to examine every public statement and scream AMNESTY! when he’s just trying to appeal to hispanics and get the messaging right.
It does not mean he’s going to support this bill unlike Rubio etc.
Just wait and see and have faith.
How long before Ron Paul Jr. says it’s about time that conservatives embrace the homosexual movement and welcome with open arms queer “marriage”. Stay tuned, because it’s coming from fake conservative, but very real libertarian Ron Paul Jr.
