While the shooting at Connecticuts Sandy Hook Elementary School has prompted a national gun control debate, President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder will still push to allow immigrants to purchase firearms more easily.
Normally, the Department of Justices Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) requires legal aliens to live in a state for 90 days before buying a gun. The ATF does this through a rule attached to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
In June, Holders DOJ proposed to eliminate that 90-day residency requirement rule.
This rule would finalize the interim final rule published on June 7, 2012 by removing the 90-day State residency requirement for aliens lawfully present in the United States to purchase or acquire a firearm, the proposal to eliminate that requirement reads in part. The Department has determined that the Gun Control Act does not permit ATF to impose a regulatory requirement that aliens lawfully present in the United States are subject to a 90-day State residency requirement when such a requirement is not applicable to U.S. citizens.
The move to allow aliens easier access to firearms is now in its final stages.
The new rule is expected to reach its final stages in April 2013. That means it will either pass or be discarded.

I'm reposting this due to the very relevant recent news of the terrorist attack in Boston. As we have read the Tsarnaev had at least one firearm. There has not been any news about what it/they were and where they were obtained.

Oboingos national security force or one more program to distabilaize American society
I want to know what guns these terrorists had and how they obtained them. By some accounts, it appears that they had a pistol prior to attacking the MIT policeman. After killing him, they may have taken his pistol. Listening to the scanner, suspect 2 was thought to have a rifle. What kind of rifle and how did he get it? I find it very curious how the media has not reported this information already. They always seem to be on top of reporting gun usage in other crimes.

I read somewhere a couple of hours ago that the policeman found dead in his car still had his pistol in its holster.

Well I’m glad to hear their going to let more people have guns but I am curious as to why their all the sudden opening up to just this one particular group...
Why should Obama and Holder have to ship guns to drug cartels/terrorists in Mexico when they can bring them here and let them buy them legally for retail? Hey, think of the additional tax revenue it would generate.
He was a naturalized citizen. He was legally afforded all the rights you have except he can’t run for president.
That didn't stop Obama, did it?
One of the brothers is/was a green card holder. I was going to ask why he could buy/possess a gun, but apparently green card holders can buy a gun by federal law, at least. I did not know that.
Anyhow, I am still curious as to what guns they had if they were legally purchased/possessed in Massachusetts.
This sounds like a good rule change. I think it is prompted by a court ruling that the ATF overstepped its authority when it made the 90 day rule.
