No, this is an anterolateral thoracotomy. A desperate procedure in the ER. The rest of the damage was the result of gunshots and being run-over by his brother.
That would make sense. I believe I read it was to gain access to the thoracic cavity. Also, read that there was some sort of yellow colored disinfectant??? around the surgical opening that was an indicator as well.

Yes, they deserved the applause. I’m sure they’re worn out. They sure did fire a LOT of bullets. The lady who taped last night’s events said she couldn’t believe so many gunshots fired for two people - and one escaped then.

Seriously, exactly who did a great job? 2 kids kept an entire metropolitan area captive for 24 hours after a killing spree that only ended because of the perps lack of planning and a guy who checked on his boat. Exactly what is there to be impressed with in the police performance?
