Fortunately, MBTA eventually got rid of the two-tier fare structure for the Green Line. And Scullay Square was renamed Government Center.

ROCKUMENTARY: APRIL 20, 1974Where were you on Saturday, April 20, 1974?
The Army and I had parted company on good terms, and I was living in Seattles University District, working at KING full time. Besides engineering Sunday mornings liberal talk show, I DJd and ran religious tapes. When we converted from vinyl to cartridge, I spent nights running the conversion from the production studio. During a period of personnel turbulence, I took over the all-night slot while the old alcoholic who worked all-nights took over all the other shifts. Arbitron only rated one hour of my all-night work, but I was killing my competition at KJR.
Lets cue the Rockumentary theme!
San Remo Golden Strings: Festival Time
Jim Croce had died six months earlier in a plane crash in Louisiana, and this song was released as a single. It came in at #10 this week.

Back when I did the Paul Williams songbook, this tune took a pride of place. Recently, a documentary about Williams, Paul Williams: Still Alive, has made the rounds of cable TV, and there is a scene where Williams sings a beautifully affecting version of this song. This comes from the period when Williams and partner Roger Nichols were working with the Carpenters, turning out hits. It debuted at #50 this week on its way to the Top 10.

Praising our son and enjoying living in Texas again though not necessarily liking where we settled. Still don’t like it, but guess I’m stuck here now. LOL!
