-I've heard of people charging $70 for brick of .22lr and actin' like they were doing someone a favor.-
-I've heard of 15 guys standing in line at 7:00am in Wal-Mart and buyin' 3 boxes of ammo apiece. Then they all go outside and put the ammo in the same vehicle. They're buyin' for some dealer who's gonna jack it up for 4 times what they paid.-
-You walk into some place and some guy wants to charge you $2000 for a $800 AR, well, what you say to him is your business but I can guarantee you I will never spend a single cent in that place.-
-Gun and ammo manufacturers have not raised their prices 400%. It's the dealers who have been taking advantage of their customers during this Constitutional Crisis. There are some dealers who have not raised their prices this whole time. It's a free market, sure. But the market will return to normal and, when it does, remember the folks who did you right and the folks who tried to stick it to you. Those places that did good by their customers are where you need to be spending your money in the future.-
The local stations had plenty of gas,they just chose to take advantage of a bad situation.You and I may disagree,but I feel that what they did was little more than robbing their customers.
It’s the nature of the beast at this point in time. There is this time in the future where guns and ammo may not be available. That’s what is driving the frenzy. Who can blame anyone at this time. I sure don’t. If people are desparate enough to spend 2-3x the old price, what are ya gonna do. It’s the system, and it’s fine by me.
I am thinking about having a yard sale including ammo.
What do people think would be a fair price for .22LR and .22 Mag?
You have the gougers, then you have the good guys like Shooters Pro; check them out.
I see your point, but keeping prices low is equally bad - because folks will buy extra “just because” and it will run out for everyone.
The reflex to raise prices is not out of goodness of their hearts, you are correct there, but retailers will adjust prices to demand (and replacement cost for themselves) as the driving factor.
If I really wanted to buy an AR15, I’d pay the money to get it. I have a feeling they will return to sane prices quickly as folks who bought and stockpiled them will decide to unload their stock.
Yep. I sold some guns I really didn't want to for this reason. I'm using the money to buy ammo if it ever becomes available again.
hahaha, now here ya go! You make it high enough to take out some of the online auction dudes, yet not scalp. You will lose either way. If too high, people will hate ya. If too low, the auction boys scoop it up, and people will hate ya.
When GA froze gas prices during a shortage, I couldn’t get any gas - because the prices were still low enough people could buy it up. I’d rather prices be high (in accordance with supply-and-demand) so only those truly willing to pay what it was worth could get it. Yes, under some conditions I’m willing to pay $20/gal...and letting it go for that price assures there is some available.
There is no such thing as price gouging. There is, however, covetous greed.

I bought 50 AR-10 Magpuls for a high price, but not parting with any. I’m happy.

I am thinking of asking $3.50 per box of 50, all brands the same and maybe $15 for .22 mag. same thing.
That is more than I paid but probably less than a lot of people are charging. Also I don’t want to sell all I have.
And who gets to define hoarding? You? Obama? Coumo?
DHS says that over a week's worth of food and essentials is "hoarding".
Do you define hoarding by having more than one needs? How much is that? If a reasonable thinking person sees the potential for SHTF, is it good thinking or hoarding?

I think it goes back to basic human nature,get the most that you can for yourself-with the least amount of effort.There are some local merchants that I haven’t bought from and will never buy from in the future,based on they behaved back then.
A thing is worth exactly what another is willing to give for it.
If someone is willing to pay $2000 for an AR15, it must be worth a lot for them to not wait for prices to come back down. Ditto $70 for a brick of .22.
If someone is breaking in my door at oh-dark-thirty, I’d gladly pay $1000 for one round of .308 if I’m out of ammo!
350$ for 5,000 rds is a steal. You need to jack up the price.
