Dianne Feinstein’s Assault Weapons Ban Defeated
Freedom Outpost ^ | Apr. 17, 2013 | Tim Brown

As Gun Owners of America Communications Director Erich Pratt said, there is a domino effect taking place in the United States Senate and Freedom is winning the battle! Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the ugly face of tyranny, was shamed today as her treasonous assault weapons ban bill suffered a huge blow. She didn’t even come close to getting the votes needed.

The votes were 40-60.

The legislation that would have banned the sale of 157 different semi-automatic weapons, including handguns and even shotguns, along with high capacity magazines has come to its much deserved end.

This bill was similar but even more expansive than her previous gun ban bill that was passed in 1994 and signed into law by Bill Clinton. The bill was demonstrably non effective, except keeping law abiding citizens from purchasing the various weapons on the list.

While Feinstein got the support of Majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) along with various other Democrats, she just couldn’t make her dreams of disarming Americans of semi-automatic weapons a reality. Reid said from the Senate floor, “I believe you should have the right to own a gun,” Reid said on the Senate floor. “But you do not need an assault weapon to defend yourself and your property. Assault weapons have one purpose and one purpose alone, to kill a lot of people very quickly.”

The question is, can this group of people who will kill with these weapons, buy these weapons easily, the answer is yes.”

One thing that Senator Feinstein forgot when making her comments was that the shooter in the Sandy Hook killings didn’t buy one single weapon; he stole them.

I’m glad Obama, the news media, and democrats got defeated today and that we still have our gun rights.

I’m happy!

A day may come when democrats enslave us . but it is not this day!

Was two-thirds required on this?

I thought we barely skated. I thought 61 votes may have won the day.

Glad to know it wasn’t close.

Diane needs to retire, but this being California, we shouldn’t expect much better to replace her.

Oh that’s right. 40/60. LOL, she really did get hosed.

Thanks for clarifying my misunderstanding.

‘Reality smacks DiFi like an runaway Mack truck.’

I wonder if she is ready for her lecture on the constitution from Senator Cruz now? She might have been able to make better use of her time if she had had the proper definition of the word, ‘infringe’.

Yea she got trounced.
The surprise of the day for me was that enough senators sobered up just in time to defeat the bait and switch Toomy Manchin bill.
It was weird to have so many people saying how many pro gun things were in the bill (that we don’t have now) but simultaneously there was not a single left wing D opposed based on the pro gun terms.
That alone was enough for me to be extremely suspicious.
It just never added up. And at the end of the day the language was changed which would have basically nullified ever pro gun part of the bill.

If it takes 60 US Senators out of 100 to pass legislation, then having your bill defeated by 60 ‘Nay’ votes ought to by law compel you to drop the subject for good, Senator Feinstein.

Thanks for the mention. I also get very leery when they say they have a good bill. Just leave well enough alone, unless you want to do away with limiting legislation on the books today. Perhaps that’s what they were promising. I get tired of watching the musical chairs number (or supposed guys on) the Right pull on us over and over.
