The FBI has begun to send pictures and other data from the crime-scene investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing to law-enforcement agencies around the country, including an image of a shredded black backpack in which one of the devices may have been hidden. Reuters and the Associated Press managed to get copies of the unclassified bulletin and published a few of the images late in the evening, as did ABC:
that the bomb inside the backpack was an improvised explosive device (IED) made out of a common pressure cooker. ABC News had previously reported that law enforcement recovered mangled parts of a pressure cooker bomb that included wires, shrapnel and a circuit board.
The advisory said there was insufficient evidence to determine if the second explosive, which was also hidden in a backpack less than a block away, was made from a pressure cooker as well.
Authorities have not yet determined the fusing system for the devices or what exactly set them off, the advisory said. The blasts erupted at approximately 2:50 p.m. EST near the marathons finish line Monday afternoon killing three people including an 8-year-old boy and injuring more than 170 others. Authorities have no suspects in the case and no group, domestic or international, has taken responsibility for the attack.
I find that pretty curious, actually. Normally, terrorist groups use the media frenzy as a platform for their extremist agendas. Obviously the media interest wont fade away completely in the next couple of days, but the arc of media coverage will begin to wane significantly as normal news coverage returns. Why wait to make the agenda for the attack known rather than take advantage of the short-lived terror it caused?
CBS has more of the images, and the FBIs call for more:

I’ve now seen another photo of this guy, and there is another guy standing next to him. Both have sand colored cargo pants and blue sweatshirts. And both have a dark backpack...and they both seem involved in trying to hear their earpieces (holding their hand to their ears).
I’ve concluded that these two are probably race personnel...maybe medics or security.
But who knows.
Have no reason to doubt your words but am hopeful even though coming up on forty-eight hours after the blasts our people are closing in on the perps. Am thinking preps (plural). Then may we discuss the calls to regulate. I do have no reason to doubt your words though because of your correctness regarding fertilizer regulations.
There are probably hundreds to thousands of pressure cookers purchased in the Boston area every week so unless they were purchased with a credit card, this would be useless. While I'm sure Big Brother has the ability of going through each and every little purchase any of us make, I don't like the idea. Unless they have a warrant for my credit card account, what gives them the right to know that I bought a soft drink and a bag of chips at the corner store last Tuesday at 3:47 pm?
Perhaps. Though while it don't think it likely, it is also possible that this was an elaborate murder plot against a single person, and the mass casualties are just a cover to mask the identity of the true target.
lol
I don’t have an i-Phone or a FaceBook account so they must not be popular.
Tend to agree with you regarding maybe are security. Needs checking though.
Hey cut that out!
bttt
There you go, exactly right.
If the bomber didn't have a long memory, the battery can be traced. I just heard that in the case of the Atlanta Olympics bombing, the batteries were traced to the store where they were purchased.
There are lots of photos and cameras in the area. I don't see how the perps could pull it off unrecorded. I agree, at least two. Devices are too heavy and bulky for one person to carry two, without drawing attention.
Plus the usual clues that can be obtained via forensics and gumshoe work.
Actually, there are times when I have been impressed by 4chan, aka “Anonymous”. This is because, at times, they have proven very capable at vigilante justice against pedophiles, rapists and other criminals they despise.
For example, using some impressive computer forensics, they have located pedophiles very quickly, within hours, collected enormous amounts of incriminating information, and forwarded it to the appropriate police agencies, all without “tainting” it as evidence, so it is still admissible in court.
They also have a major down on local government that is complicit in crime, like the police and prosecutors in Steubenville, Ohio, who just did not want to prosecute players on their winning high school football team for the gang rape of an unconscious 15 year old girl. The police were extremely callous as well, saying that because the girl was unconscious, she shouldn’t have cared that she had been gang raped.
More recently, they are forcing a Canadian local government to act after a girl was gang raped and publicly humiliated by her rapists, ostracized in her town, all while the authorities shrugged it off as not having enough evidence to prosecute. Such as the pictures the rapists took and posted to Facebook. The young girl hung herself.
Credit in all of this goes to 4chan, and they are probably investigating the Boston marathon bombings because the government does not want to embarrass the Saudis, and other politically incorrect things, so is trying to cover it up.
So, in this case again, good for 4chan.
Very interesting.
Actually of the type they I.D.'d in this case far fewer. Not sure of the number, but is was under a hundred. Basic police work to run them all down- even if was thousands.
If they are security and the bombs were in similar backpacks, then it’s a good bet whoever is responsible for the bombs knew something about the security and what they would be wearing and used it for cover.
The electronics (battery, board, wiring, etc) look new and they can only be bought at electronic supply houses. Should be able to tell if all the electronics were bought at one supplier. If so, orders could be traced which contain these items.
“and I would suggest it would be difficult to buy one....”
Here, allow me to help you shop. BTW, darn near everything comes from “offshore”.
