Got a survey on behalf of my physician. Now, I've been a patient for over 25 years. But from the sound of the questioning, he is considering closing his primary care operation and going to a concierge, cash-only physician operation ("Royal Pains" style, if you're familiar with the tv show). So, if he does, he'll have the cream of the local populace, and us who rely on private insurance and Medicare will be looking for another doctor.
Just another thank-you to Obama-care.
“My GP retired not long after Obamacare reared its ugly head...”
Your too? Mine did and so did several of my neighbors. I finally reached out to a fellow freeper and got the name/number of his.
love it! :)
Obama stash! (are you seriously asking this question?)
My new doctor is good but he’s not into paperwork and I fear he too may decide to “retire”. Obamacare is a disaster.
I did some work with a doc last year (marketing stuff) who was going concierge. He was also partnering with some other docs in the area. Could be catching on.
It isn’t just me or the neighbors. A ton of people at my husband’s job don’t have a GP now either. The doctor that purchased my GP’s practice... well, let’s just say that I saw him once. I wouldn’t bring my dogs to him for vaccinations. I fear this stuff is just beginning to happen... the future doesn’t look bright at all. IMHO.
Even if the Doctors do that people will still have to buy insurance even if they don’t use it and pay cash for their doctor visits. The only people who will be undermined are the people who can’t find a doctor but will still have to buy insurance.
Seems like a win win for Obamacare if you ask me since it never was about health per say just money to the government in the way of taxes and fees If you don’t purchase what they tell you to in this case Insurance.

This doctor is doing it right ....watch the video ....how fast do you think they’ll put a stop to what she is doing when that crap kicks in next year?
I suspect the quality of the personal concierge service might make some people think the double cost is worth it (and still equals less than traditional insurance).
Its just frustrating that we now have to pay a double cost.
Obama is a jerk that is the nicest thing I can say about him.
Agree on both counts!
This is the wave of the future, at least until the practice is banned by government.
Had my right hip operated on last year and getting my left done next week. This is a big part of why I am doing it now. Hopefully I am fully healed and able before TSHTF.
My doc did this several years ago. I pay him up front and then he gives me the insurance forms (in my case B/C pop) and I send them in. The insurance company then sends me a check. I usually get back about half the price of the office visit, however, I get a full hour with the doc and if I need to see him for any reason; I can get in the same day. These visits are always less than me taking my dog to the vet!
My doctor mentioned the same thing to me last week.
Not everyone who got tax cuts under Bush the Younger and Obama before he changed his mind was rich, either. But what does that have to do with political exploitation of class resentment?
My GP and internist, both of whom are very, very superior physicians for many different reasons, have already been cash and carry for over a decade.
This lets them practice medicine the way they see fit, do what’s best for the patient with no external interference whatsoever, and not have to have a big back-office staff to hassle with insurance companies. In fact, my internist has no staff at all, and practices from him home, which means he’s cut his overhead to zilch.
Our family doctor is thinking of doing it also. We told him no problem we will still go to him as we pay cash for doctor’s visits anyway.
The entire community of general practice physicians should simply shut their doors and tell the American public they’ll open for business again after Congress passes the defeat of Obamacare and the “prez” signs it.
