Tennessee Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn will lead a House delegation to Britain to attend the funeral of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on Wednesday.
Announced by House Speaker John Boehners office Monday, the trip marks a culmination of Republican accolades for Thatcher following her death last week. Thatchers conservative policies and close relationship with President Reagan won her widespread support within the GOP.
Margaret Thatcher was one of the greatest champions freedom has ever known, and her funeral gives Americans and friends around the world an opportunity to pay final respects, Boehner said in a statement.
The delegation also includes Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and George Holding (R-N.C.).
Bachmann has long expressed her respect for Thatcher, going so far as to proclaim in an interview last year with USA Today that I want to be Americas Margaret Thatcher. I will be the next Iron Lady.

OBAMA WONT SEND OFFICIAL U.S. ENVOY TO MARGARET THATCHERS FUNERAL (BUT DID TO HUGO CHAVEZS)
Obama is such a commie rock sucker.
Well thank goodness. The Congress finally steps up to counter our faux president and his pathetic inability to act with class and breeding.
Any idea which channel is covering the funeral tomorrow? I want to watch it, as I do with all historic events, and I can’t find it!
Thanks...
BBC News should cover it at least. But you must have cable.
thankfully congress comes to the rescue but it shows how far out of whack Obama is.
fast and furious, er is that a movie?
Ignoring judges orders like the Gulf oil.
spending
concerts as he closes the white house we pay for
work place violence
don’t judge yet and jump to conclusions
and yet he did when his pal got arrested ion Cambridge and he called the police stupid.
Libya he went to sleep and bed as Americans and America was under attack and they were fighting for their lives and no way in hell would Bush had done that and if he had he would have been thrown out of office.
Now this.
The man has no concept of what America is, all he knows is community agitating
I was relieved to hear Obama won’t be going. Swarms of flies are not appropriate at a funeral service.
I do! Thank you very much.
BBC news channel, which will be covering Baroness Thatcher’s funeral ...
I looked through all the channels on my Directv guide, and I can’t find a single one that’s showing the funeral...INCLUDING the BBC. But I guess that’s not very surprising.
Reggie Love is flying in for hoops n more..... That’s why Obama can’t go
