CANTON Police have shut down a short stretch of Route 138 while the State Police bomb squad investigates a report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside the Bay State School of Technology.
Jennifer Mieth, spokeswoman for the states Department of Fire Services, said the bomb squad was called in after Canton authorities received a report of a suspicious vehicle at the technical training school, located at 225 Turnpike St.
Canton police received the report at approximately 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, officer Michael Lank said. State and local officials were still investigating the report as of 9:15 a.m.
Mieth said the vehicle is a junker filled with a lot of debris. Although it was still unknown whether the vehicle posed a threat, she said its helpful that reports like these come in following Mondays deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon finish line.
After yesterday, everybody is on heightened alert, and we appreciate calling in to report anything out of place, Mieth said.
The section of Route 139 between Randolph Street and Edward Street was closed down while police searched the school. Traffic heading northbound was being diverted west onto Edward Street to connect with Randolph Street. Southbound traffic was being forced onto Randolph Street.
This is an active investigation. Please check back for more details as they become available.
Got it...lol
:)
Sorry that the article has a type-o. I don’t edit stories that I post on here. Route 138 and 139 cross each other and they are sometimes confused. However a state bomb squad truck investigating a suspicious device about 15 miles from yesterday’s explosions seemed relevent to me.
Updates or Stand Down in area? Anything further?
There is also a Canton, CT and a Canton, OHIO...
The road is still closed off. I am a mile down the street.
Thank You.
"gonna be a whole lot of nothing."
does appear headed in that direction of nothing.
and Kansas.

“A custodian at the Bay State School of Technology reported seeing a suspicious-looking vehicle in the parking lot of 225 Turnpike St. to Canton Police Tuesday morning. The vehicle reportedly contained propane tanks, with one being connected to the vehicle’s engine with a hose, according to Canton Police Sgt. Robert Gooley.”
The scene was being cleared around 10 a.m. Tuesday and the road is reported to reopen shortly, Gooley said.
Canton, Ohio?
vehicle running off of natural gas would be normal ... will go to posted thread to read to see if anything else.
okay. clear.
Isn't that the truth? I've lived here my whole life and it still drives me crazy!
Terrorists have accomplished a lot. People are going to be on edge for every package, box, suitcase, parked car, etc.
Most people don't look at the topics.
When I saw it was in Canton, I was a bit concerned since my daughter had a job interview scheduled in Canton. OHIO.
Please put the state at the end of the title or in your comments. Most TV and newspaper articles make it almost impossible to tell where they are.
I though it was about Canton TX too, lol. I wonder if my brother was involved. His vehicle is only suspicious to the EPA since it gets about a half mile to the gallon.
lol
