Jack Lew Oversaw Up to 113 Cayman Island Investment Funds
The Weekly Standard ^ | 4/13/13 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 04/14/2013 5:00:02 PM PDT by Nachum

Jack Lew, who has been nominated as the next treasury secretary, oversaw up as many as a hundred Cayman Island investments when he worked at Citi Bank as chief operating officer of the alternative investment services unit, SEC disclosures reveal. It has previously been reported that Lew himself had been invested in a fund that was based in the Cayman Islands.

"To meet your complex hedge fund, fund of hedge funds and private equity fund needs, Citi is your single provider with market-leading experience, global reachand state-of-the-art technology. Our unmatched worldwide presence, economies of scale and comprehensive portfolio of solutions enable us to deliver uniformly integrated services, create administrative efficiencies and reduce operating costs," Citi's description of the alternative investment services unit reads.

"Our end-to-end solutions provide services to multiple product structures. Whether you are a stand-alone, master feeder, umbrella fund, corporate entity, separately managed account, unit trust, family office or SICAV we provide the solutions you need so that you can focus on your core competencies. We also provide fully integrated services to funds domiciled in all major jurisdictions."

It specifically lists its jurisdictions as: the U.S., Bermuda, Cayman Islands, BCI, Canada, Ireland, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

SEC documents ending in the year 2007 reveal that at least 90 subsidiaries of Citi were based in the Cayman Islands. A couple weeks later, in January 2008, Jack Lew took the high-ranking executive job at Citi.

Names of the Citi subsidiaries include: Asia Mortgage Finance, Azabu Credit Management Company Ltd., Alternative Investments MGR, Ltd., Asia Enterprise III Offshore L.P., Baltic Pharma Limited, BISYS Hedge Fund Director Services Limited, Brennan Limited, and many, many more.

This is what they accused Romney of doing, and said it didn't make him fit to represent the "47%."

Will Romney come forward and attach Lew on their own terms, and use the arguments the Left made against him towards Lew?

Will Romney call Obama out as a liar, and say that this proves that you cannot trust anything that the Obama administration says?

No, because he's too weak to do it, and neither will anyone else in the GOP.

You can be sure Lew is as dirty as anyone in the Chicago thug regime. these criminals all hang together. They are a dirty bunch hell bent on enriching themselves at our loss as they purposely destroy a once great nation.

It's not hate, it's not being willing to accept the current form as the new steady state.

Do you want to accept an institutionalized double standard that lets the Left demonize someone successful like Romney with charges that they are secretly doing themselves, and then when found out we're not supposed to point out the hypocricy?

Romney is not running again, but like when Obama hides behind Newtown parents when making a point, we should have Romney out front making points against Obama. That would make news, and make the MSM cover the news.

Our problem is that our weapons of politics are too sheepish to stand out in front and accuse the Left of anything. They'd rather wait for the Left to accuse, and then go on defense.

We don’t need Romney out front, we need a leader.

He was the better of two bad choices, its time to find another leader and its way too early for it to be a presidential pick.

We need ANYBODY out front right now. It doesn't matter who.

Obama is playing Cloward-Piven on Congress, hitting them with crisis after crisis after crisis, intending to overwhelm them with controversial issues so they can't focus on any one of them. This divides us and dilutes messages.

We need to fire back from many fronts now. We can't wait for new voices to emerge and rally around. We don't have to rally now, just fire back. From many fronts, now.

I'd take Gingrich out there, and Cain, and Santorum. They're not in office either, and can speak from outside.
