The Bishop of Grantham has branded the decision to give Baroness Thatcher a ceremonial funeral with full military honours a "mistake".
The Rt Rev Tim Ellis, speaking from Lady Thatcher's birthplace in Lincolnshire on Sunday, said the funeral was "asking for trouble" and should be "more low-key and personal".
More than 800 personnel from the Armed Forces units that played a key part in the Falklands conflict will line the route of the funeral procession from the Palace of Westminster to St Paul's Cathedral in London on Wednesday. It is thought the funeral will cost in the region of £8 million.
Police have said they are braced for trouble from protesters after a series of 'parties' celebrating Lady Thatcher's death were held last week.
The Rt Rev Tim Ellis said: "I am not surprised by the parties which show that events of 30/40 years ago still engender that kind of violent reaction because her reign was very divisive and controversial, and people still remember that today.

How true!
Soooooo...when the Bill Clinton one goes to his just reward...should Americans riot at his funeral?
I’m with you. Let the Lefties go crazy. Let people see what they’re really like.
The final bill for the funeral may approach £10million. Lady Thatchers family is meeting an unspecified amount of the expense, thought to cover transport, flowers and the cremation, with the Government funding the rest, including security.
Foreign Secretary William Hague said: When it comes to money, the rebate she negotiated for this country from the EU has brought us so far £75billion I think that puts money in perspective.
