Back in February, several gun manufacturers decided to boycott law enforcement in states that are hostile to the Second Amendment, states like New York for instance. They would not be providing weapons or ammunition. Within a week that number had grown by over 700%. In the first article I provided information for several gun manufacturers that could be contacted to come on board with this boycott, including Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson and Remington. Well, now we know where Remington stands. They stand on the side of government as they have let it be known that they will be staying in New York and they have now acquired a government contract worth $80 million.
You realize the contract in question was military and not with the State of New York, don’t you?
Let me see if I have this straight.
Our country is at war and an American firearms company (Remington) is selling firearms to our military to be used in this war and there are those on this website who are offended by this.
Have I stumbled across a DU website?
I’m out of here.
I think THIS boycott will work. They are getting absolutely steamrollered on their Facebook page. Boycotts are easy to publicize these days.
I agree. Wonder what the real deal is and who really gets the greatest amount of the profits.
The expansion of the Ilion, NY facility was under discussion before this controversy ever began. I told several people who were insisting on FR that Remington was moving from NY to TX this some time back, that they were slated for a major expansion in NY which is odd behavior if they’re about to move it all to TX. Whatever the source of that rumor might have been, clearly it was incorrect regarding this plant in NY.
And it’s utterly inane, Emily Litella level misunderstanding. It’s a US military contract for one, and they were planning on expanding that plant before the controversy ever began.
80 mill in sniper rifles alone how many snipers do the military have now and they need more?
Give me a break here kids. We have 80mil dollars worth of sniper rifles that need a home! This is BS to the max!
More Like 80mil payoff to keep what 1000 jobs in the state of Ny!
Take our weapons but keep their jobs! Sorry Remmington I was lookin at a new 30.06 but it will not be from you!
“but when did the U.S. military become,,,,,
I would say the Military became law enforcement worthy of high suspicion and close scrutiny when NDAA passed saying they could arrest US citizens, in America, and hold them incommunicado, with no hearings or attorneys, no due process, no trials, as long as they want. All they must do is deem that you “support terror”. This could even be with writings opposing Obama.
And also, when the military began using TEA party activists as a fictional insurgent enemy instead of “orange republic” etc,,, as they have for decades. When the troops are trained (like last week) that Christianity is terror related, as are people who wish the constitution to be followed.
Thats when.
In 2010, Empire State Development, the agency that works with private companies to attract and retain jobs, announced $2.5 million in grants and subsidies to help Remington bring its Marlin lever-action gun production from Connecticut to Ilion and add 100 jobs. That followed two grants in 2009 worth $3 million for renovations and machinery.

I had not heard rumor of Remington moving to Texas.
The ones that make sense are Stag Arms and Colt. Colt Competition is moving to Texas. No word about Stag Arms.
I am hoping that Mag Pull is coming, but there has been no announcement. Some of their production is moving to Wyoming, but they announced that they were going to have a multi state operation. Good insurance of future insanity.
Ruger already has a facility in Prescott Arizona. I could see them moving. But it will have to be pretty bad before they will take on the task.
Guess we shall see.
Big Deal, never owned one, never will, hope the word gets around and they go tits up!
Oh, IT’S ABOUT TO GET MUCH WORSE. When the banking oligarchs collapse the American economy, chaos, mayhem, food raids by gov’t goons sweeping the burbs in order to feed the welfare masses, murder, starvation, disease, these will be the daily activities in America. It is all according to plan, to end the pesky We The People Constitutional Republic. The new world order doesn’t want gun owners surviving the collapse to obstruct the NWO agenda, so massive death and disease will yet again be employed to ‘thin the herd’. But don’t worry about your elected representagoons, they will be tucked safely away in well stocked bunkers, protected by the years of ammo orders being accumulated.
He who eats my bread, sings my song...
Assuming the $16,000 per M2010 SWS is valid, the $80 million contract is for a total of 5,000 new and re-manufactured rifles. [That sounds like a rather excessive number of rifles to me, but it is an effective bribe in the short term.] What the long term effect of this sellout by Remington has on product sales is unknown.
when the guy that zeroed my 22-250 sent the second bullet thru the hole made by the first, i was impressed. nice firearm remington.
Your tax dollars are paying for it.
