$70 mil is chump change in the weapons business, but their lack of fidelity will certainly become well known anyway.
That's $16,000 per rifle.

The only Remington firearm I own was made by the typewriter company.
80 million over 10 years, calculates to 8 million per year. Is that a lot of business for the company. Sounds like BS to me.

People often wonder why business supports Democrats. The answer is quite simple: Democrats are for sale and everyone knows it. They will give you what you pay for and they will punish your competition. They are not bound by any moral scruples or political philosophy, so everyone is welcome as long as you bring lots of money.
Republicans do this too, but they aren’t really serious about it, aren’t well organized to do it on a large scale, and sometimes take a stand on principle. They can’t be relied upon to practice corruption at a professional level.

think about this! “over 5,000 rifles”? The contract is over 10 years. That is 500 rifles at $16,000 per rifle per year.
A stupid 500 rifles per year. This is nuts.
The free market strikes again. A two edged sword.
I remember when they listed Lon Horiuchi’s name as a satisfied customer of their H-S precision sniper rifles. I wrote their president a very polite but venomous email and actually got a response. My suggestion of a boycott rattled him. He changed his stance and pulled all the advertising.

Be polite and remember that he is a gunmaker and generally on our side. He might still be planning on moving outta New York. Is the contract tied to producing it in NY?
That’s a shame, a Custom 40x in 25-06 was on my list. I’m not sure what I’ll replace it with, few rifles even compare.

The announcement “did not” say Remington is not moving any of it’s production from NY. It said they were awarded a 80 million contract over 10 years and that they were spending 20 million on the plant. This is the new “modular” rifle for the U.S. military. That contract translates into 500 guns per year (total of 5,000 weapons).
I think it is early to assume some of the other production will not be moved. They do produce weapons in other places and in foreign countries. Nothing new there.
We shall see.
