would likely have wrapped up the nomination much earlier

The GOP primary process is already irrelevant in several late-primary states.

Romney (and McCain in 2008) had the nomination wrapped up weeks before my state primary.

Ending the primary season earlier might be okay, if more 'super Tuesdays' are set up so all states can vote before the process is locked up.

I personally like the idea of 5 ten state primary dates on a rotation.

2 east coast states, 2 west coast states, 2 southern states, 2 northern states, and 2 central states would all vote the same day on a random rotation pulled out of a hat for each presidential primary.
