No one much cared what Nigel Farage had to say about Margaret Thatcher. The verdicts of everyone from Nick Clegg to Gerry Adams were being relayed, but broadcasters were not keen on the views of the chap with the funny hat and the comic expressions. Ukip is still seen in Westminster as a freakish single-issue party with the intellectual clout of a mayfly and about the same life expectancy. It might flutter during the Governments mid-term blues, but it is expected to perish in the next election as surely as the BNP did in the last one.
This was certainly my suspicion when I went along to Nigel Farages Common Sense Tour last week. I decided to sneak in at the back at Worcester Guildhall to test my theory that Ukip peaked in the Eastleigh by-election, is losing support and will flop in next months local elections. I expected to find a few dozen Eurosceptic pub bores huddled in the middle of a room, and wondered how Farage would speak to them when he didnt think the press was listening. I also wondered how his audience would compare to those who used to attend BNP meetings.

In other news, donors switching from the Tories to UKIP.
And also UKIP membership reaches 25,000. The conservatives have about 130,000 so a long way to go.
I honestly think next months local elections will be the start of a political earth quake.
I hope so, for y’all’s sake. Wouldn’t it be a joke on us if it’s the US which goes under first. I hope we at least have a shooting war before it happens.
Farage is certainly articulate enough. They’ll be coming after him if he gets any more power.
I like Nigel at lot. His You Tube vids are legendary.
Most classic: Nigel’s first rant on EU Economic Chief Herman Van Rompuy.
NF to HvR: “You have the personality of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk.”
I’ve watched a couple. Who is that other MEP who lets the EU have it with both barrels, and does a swell job of it?
The UKIP is somethign we need to watch if they can demolish the Tories and build a party that is bigger than the Tories then we need to the do the same with the Tea party!
Nigel Farage Addressing Herman van Rompuy at the EU Parliament (from the video I just posted):
“You have the charisma of a damp rag, and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk. And the question that I want to ask, [...] that we’re all going to ask, is “Who are you ?”. I’d never heard of you. Nobody in Europe had ever heard of you. I would like to ask you, President, who voted for you, and what mechanism...oh, I know democracy isn’t popular with you lot, and what mechanism the people of Europe have to remove you ? Is this European democracy ? Well, I sense, I sense though that you are competent and capable and dangerous, and I have no doubt in your intention, to be the quiet assassin of European democracy, and of the European nation states. You appear to have a loathing for the very concept of the existence of nation states - perhaps that’s because you come from Belgium, which is pretty much a non-country. But since you took over, we’ve seen Greece reduced to nothing more than a protectorate. Sir, you have no legitimacy in this job at all, and I can say with confidence that I speak on behalf of the majority of British people in saying: we don’t know you, we don’t want you, and the sooner you’re put out to grass, the better.”
Daniel Hannon, Member of European Parliament
Definitely.
The Parallels between UKIP and the Conservative Party and The GOP and Tea Party are quite interesting and hopefully it will be the blueprint for the change that needs to happen over there in America aswell.
People have honestly had enough of the spineless politicians we have.
Ive watched a couple. Who is that other MEP who lets the EU have it with both barrels, and does a swell job of it?

My brother in law went to the Worcester Guildhall meeting, and was also astonished at the turnout. Worcester is a labour city, but Worcestershire is deeply rural and deeply conservative.
This would, God save us, be a proper answer to the horrible fascism rising in Italy and elsewhere—Farage is trying to corner populist conservatism without race-baiting, bigotry, or lunacy (as per fantasies about the Illuminati)—if he succeeded, he could perhaps save Britain—or at least, after the Scottish referendum—what’s left of Britain.
I expect UKIP is going to do very well in these elections. I still think UKIP MP's at the next general election will be very rare birds, but it is possible there will be some.
