One of Scotlands councils has just implemented a boycott of Israel after comparing the country to apartheid South Africa. The Clackmannanshire Council declared it would resist all economic and political support for Israel in order to end suffering in Palestine. In Scotland, once known as the only European country which has no history of state persecution of Jews, a region is officially dedicated to the eradication of the Jewish State as a malevolent, settler and foreign entity.
Last year, the Scottish University of Dundee banned water from Eden Springs on the campus, becauseit claimedit steals water from the Salukia spring in the occupied Syrian Golan, where it is bottled in the illegal Israeli settlement of Katzrin. Another Scottish provincial council near Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire, in 2011 prohibited the purchase of English translations of Israeli books and the distribution of these books in public libraries throughout the council's jurisdiction.
The Dunbartonshire decision marks the first time that a region in Europe has been cleansed of the presence of Israeli books. It does not matter what ideas are contained in these books; it is the bare fact of their origin which is enough for them to be banned.

What do they call the area occupied by Israel on their maps?
Should Israel really care what the Scots do? I think the life expectancy in parts of Scotland is lower than Afghanistan.
Squeemish Scots apparently prefer Saudi Sunni Sharia justice, tolerance and inclusivity.
The Fall of Western Civilization is sort of like watching the deliberate implosion of a building - the columns and walls that looked so solid a moment ago simply crumble into dust after a few carefully targeted charges are set off...
I have a feeling the last sensible Scot emigrated about forty years ago.
These bigots do not speak for the people of Scotland. They are a minority of activist bigots, whose idiotic actions reflect badly on a populace they dont speak for.
They beamed up!
“These bigots do not speak for the people of Scotland.”
Man, I really hope so. “Burning” books because of WHERE they come from seems so un-Scottish.
There, does that help?
They're still flacking for the old Soviet client-group.
Hey, Scotland!
I won’t be buying anymore of your Harris Tweed jackets, either, you freaking Jew haters.
(Groan...)
I hear ya, but I once dated a Scot who was a security contractor in Afghanistan. They’re not ALL “teched” in the head.
Hey, Stephen!.
I dont hold all Americans responsible for the KKK, dont hold Scotland responsible for a few bigots.
There is a clear 100 year record of moral, legal, and political outrage in America against the KKK.
In modern Europe, specifically Socialist and academic Europe, there is a universally accepted, and utterly deceitful, theme of anti-Zionism, which is a thinly disguised excuse for Jew hatred.
The UK is a principal leader in this assault on Israel, and no one in Europe utters a word of criticism.
It is not “a few bigots.”
It is a commonly accepted political belief.
I ask FReepers to note the constant branding of Israel as a "foreign" entity. The notion that nations spring "organically" from their native soils is a nineteenth century myth of the European Right that has now been adopted lock, stock, and barrel by the Marxist Left, the latter having long shed itself of any pretensions to a "world proletarian state." To today's Left (as to the European Right of the past) the greatest sin possible is to be "foreign," an "alien implant" choking out peoples who are allegedly "autochthonous" to their areas. This, and not its capitalism, is probably the number one reason the Left so hates the United States of America, which is perhaps the most "inorganic" and "artificial" of all nations on earth. Of course, what these hypocrites forget is that all nations begin as foreign implants. The "autochthonous/indigenous people" is a myth.
The problem is...we’re still in the building.
