1980s Nostalgia: Poll Finds Reagan Beats Obama in a Landslide

President Obama has been struggling to push his agenda through Congress and boost his popularity, but now there is another bit of bad news for him to chew on: A poll indicates that Obama would lose an election to Ronald Reagan, the champion of conservatism, if such a choice were possible today. And it would be a landslide.

Fifty-eight percent of Americans would choose Reagan, according to a survey conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Reagan, a Republican who won the elections of 1980 and 1984, would even capture 51 percent of voters aged 18 to 34, even though young people were a key constituency for Democrat Obama in 2008 and 2012.

Its not conservatism that is the problem. Its the lack of conservatism in the GOP. People cant vote for what isnt being offerred. When the stark contrast was evident in 1980 we won big, in 1994 we won big, in 2010 we won big. Milque toast Republicanism has never won big.

These kind of polls make me wonder, what would the numbers be if the media were neutral?

I’m amazed that so much truth about Reagan somehow manages to reach people who can’t remember a president who left office so many years ago, think where he would be if he got JFK and Roosevelt, and Obama type press (and those three got true media).

I said before the conventions last year that I would vote for the mouldering corpse of Ronnie Reagan - because he would do a far better job for our Beloved Nation than any of the living candidates - and I was roundly castigated for it here and elsewhere. In retrospect, I should have written him in. The result would not have changed, but, having adhered to my principles, my conscience would be clear

"Riamh nár dhruid ó sbairn lann!"

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

It would be really interesting if they did a poll that pitted Bill Clinton VS President Reagan.

The subhuman filth that is the American voter would never prefer Reagan to the kenyan.

"You won't get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There's only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up, and if you don't actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time...

It's a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience."

Fifty-eight percent of the people would vote for Reagan, and the other forty-two percent are mentally defective or criminals.

Can we will real elections instead of these fake hypothetical. We went through this whole nonsense during the 2008 and 2012 election and lost both times. We need to get serious and stop dreaming. Reality is here and it is not some fake polling that does nothing for us.

It’s not even close. With Reagan dead or suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, he’s still immeasurably better than Obama (just like a date today with Marilyn Monroe is better than a date with a serial axe murderer). As for the Reagan who served in the White House, he’s one of our top five presidents in all of our country’s history. As far as I’m concerned, the usurper in our White House does not belong on the list of presidents, but he ranks in the bottom two among all White House residents in America’s history. The only question is whether the drug-addled communist can avoid triggering a second war between the states and thus perhaps avoid coming in dead last.

Yes there was a fakeness in 2008 and 2012. The fakeness in 2008 was we being told embracing global warming, immigration reform, and big government was the answer. Everyone said Mitt Romney was the candidate to run though McCain won the nom in 2008. Reality is not liberal dominance. Reality is real conservatives running real conservative campaigns on both fiscal and social issues and attacking our opponents relentlessly like maybe they want to win and believe the crap they say they do for a change. Reagan wasn’t perfect but he was unapologetic in his defense of liberty and of America values and American capitalism. That message has shown that it can win and win big. We won in 2010 but then instead of running hard against Obamacare and hard against Obama’s social and fiscal liberalism we nominated a guy who was a squish and had put in place a Health Care mandate and who said he “was proud to be called the grandfather of Obamacare”. That is the unreality that exists in the GOP.
