Poll: Majority Disapproves Of Obama’s Handling Of Gun Policy [No Reason For Rs to Compromise]
Talking Points Memo ^ | 4/9/13 | Tom Kludt

A majority of Americans — including large majorities of Republicans, independents, whites and men — said they disapprove of the way President Barack Obama is handling gun policy, according to a CNN/ORC International poll released Monday.

The poll showed that 52 percent of Americans disapprove of Obama's handling of gun policy, while 45 percent said they approve. A huge majority of 86 percent of Republicans, 60 percent of independents, 61 percent of men and 61 percent of white Americans said they disapprove of Obama on the issue.

But the President drew support on the issue from his own party, along with women and minorities. Eighty-percent of Democrats, 53 percent of women and 65 percent of non-white Americans said they approve of Obama's handling of gun policy, according to the poll.

The ‘reason’ for Rs to compromise is the oft bandited-about poll numbers of 90% (>80 R) Americans support extended background check.

They don't want to hear their own constituents, they won't listen to reasons, and they refuse to do their jobs (their oaths to their office).

ODUMBO NEWFLASH: Screw the polls! A "majority" of Americans can't remove my ability to arm myself, nor can Congress.
America isn't a democracy and my rights are inalienable.

“America isn’t a democracy and my rights are inalienable.”

Actually America is today an autocratic self perpetuating regime, not a republican government of the people. One more progressive justice appointed to the Supreme Court will result in a reinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment and the end of private firearm ownership in this country. Registration is the prelude to find the location of the guns. Once there is a 5-4 progressive majority to rule the amendment applies only to the state controlled militia (citizens belonging to the National Guard or military), a Democrat Congress will pass a law to confiscate firearms in private hands with no compensation.

I find the 90% statistic hard to believe. People likely aren’t aware of Schumers attempt to tie this to universal registration.

There is no reason for Republicans in the Senate to give the Assclown ANYTHING.

That assumes that the Republicans are an OPPOSITION party rather than the socialist lite "me too" party that they've become since Ronald Reagan was first elected. Democrats are statists in the tradition of Stalin. Republicans are statists in the tradition of Mussolini. Neither party can be conceive of lessening the power of government.

Even on FR - supposedly a conservative forum - I saw posters who were defending DFACS yesterday. In a conservative world, no such agency would even exist.

Compromise is the only thing the Republicans know how to do. It’s the “go along to get along” party and compromise is their credo.

Even if they have a 100% chance of passing any bill, they will compromise at least 50% of it away.

It’s time to take out the trash or we will be in it by 2014.

I read yesterday that the majority approved. I’m confused. And it doesn’t matter anyway. Obama doesn’t need anyone’s approval to do anything, especially congress.

You are correct, that is exactly what the GOP would do and why the term GOP is only meant to convey a conservative message. With its RINOs and its dems using the brand to seek elections under another party logo, it is a worthless organization to anyone seeking true conservative principles.

Dear Sen. Ayotte,

We voted for you, because we thought you understood the Constitution and the principles of individual responsibility and self government.

It is becoming apparent to us that you don’t even understand this very simple phrase, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

No other right enumerated in the Bill of Rights has so strict a protection as to forbid even any encroachments.

Any and all “gun control” laws are infringements on the God-given right to self-defense against criminals and tyrants.

Besides, we already have thousands of “gun control” laws. How’s that working out?

Ask your Democrat colleagues how many infringements they would tolerate on their illusory “right” to prenatal and neonatal infanticide.

Rest assured, that we will work vigorously against your reelection if you vote for any “gun control” legislation. If we’re going to lose our rights to the totalitarian statists, may as well lose them all at once.

There’s certainly no reason for the Repubs to capitulate, but we all know capitulate is what they’ll do.... because they do it so well.

The Republicans will compromise because they have a disdain for the annoying American people.

” - - - 45 percent said they approve - - -”

Isn’t it interesting that ALL of the Liberal Agenda Media opinions polls never fall below 40 % approval of what Commie Obama wants to do to “FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?”

No but an eight member swat group sure can. If that don't work then they will bring in tanks, ask David Koresh, oh wait you can't.
