Yep, schools should have nothing to do with proms, which shouldn’t even exist anymore.

I suspect the “black prom” is very important to the community.

The irony is that most of these kids would SELF-SEGREGATE if this policy didn’t exist.

You’re right. Freedom of Association is a terrible thing and it should not be permitted if it runs afoul of political correctness.

Lol! On college campuses, there’s a lot of “segregation”, in clubs, sororities, etc. While there should be no policy forcibly separating people, it put’s paid the idea that regulation SHOULD force people together.

Government schools should get out of the prom business altogether.

Just curious, how is a black student union or a black studies major not segregation?

At my Catholic High School, you did not go to prom unless you had a date and no it could not be same sex. That was 25 years ago but I am pretty confident that the rules have not changed.

I’m amazed anything is segregated any more. But this part of the article did make me chuckle
“Quanesha Wallace, said. “It’s hard for just one of us to up and do when it’s been segregated for so many years, so we all decided to do it as one.
“Wallace, who’s African-American...”
Whoda guessed Quanesha would be African American?

It is a little strange, but just look at major cities throughout the country. There is to some degree, spontaneous segregation in a lot of places.

Simple solution for the “segregated prom” — the school cancels the prom and lets the kids arrange their own proms off campus.
To: GeronL
Why shouldn’t proms exist anymore?
