A Fort Hood soldier is fighting charges after he says police violated his gun rights, and he says they're still being violated weeks later.

I posted the article, but I didn’t write it. I don’t own a single assault rifle. I have a few AR-style, semi-automatic rifles, a couple of AK-47 semi-automatic rifles, an awesome Russian SKS sniper rifle, and a few others. Not a single assault rifle in my collection.
“What, in your expert view, was moronic about what happened?”
Well, that he got into an altercation with a cop and almost got shot is a pretty good sign that something didn’t go according to plan.
No, I did not. How can I have an assault rifle across my chest when I don’t own any assault rifles. The rifle I was carrying was mine, not borrowed. I had a loaded, semi-automatic rifle across my chest, but I don’t have a license to carry an assault weapon.
So, when I’m minding my own business and a police officer seeks to illegally disarm me without charge, warrant, or cause I should just happily oblige or should I invoke my civil rights? I think things are going to go quite well for me once my civil lawsuit is over.
So you’re claiming the article as written is untrue. Or inaccurate. Or misleading. Or whatever. I suppose you weren’t even on any Boy Scout Hike either, huh?
Look, I’ve read your blogs and I see this activist type of behavior in what you’ve blogged before. And right or wrong, my opinion is you staged this. You flaunted your rights and some knee-jerking LEO overplayed his hand and now your ass in a crack. I do hope you find a way out, though.
Good luck.
“So, when Im minding my own business and a police officer seeks to illegally disarm me without charge, warrant, or cause I should just happily oblige or should I invoke my civil rights? I think things are going to go quite well for me once my civil lawsuit is over.”
It seems you allowed yourself to be disarmed and probably came within a finger-twich of getting killed on top of it. Right and dead is still dead. But now you’ll get your day in court and your fifteen minutes. Good luck with that.
Just curious where this incident exactly took place. I’m pretty familiar with the Temple/Belton area and know that Temple city limits extend out to the west of I-35 quite a ways. Was this city police officer within his jurisdiction to confront you to begin with?
Technically, I was still within the city limits. The city of Temple has been steadily increasing its borders into the countryside over the past three years. They now own all the way over to Belton Lake, out nearly towards Pendleton to the North. He was within his jurisdiction at the time.
And the sheep have spoken.
My opinion is you’re an idiot then. If you want to belittle standing up for rights as “activism” then I’m guilty. I wasn’t on a Boy Scout hike. I was with my son on a hike to meet the requirements for his Boy Scout hiking merit badge. Neither of us were in uniform.
If I wanted to “stage” a confrontation, we would have hiked through downtown or a busy road instead of choosing a route that predominantly through pastures and fields, most of which my family own and farm. Your ignorance is showing, you might want to cover that up.
I met CJ almost 10 years ago. He's a great guy, dedicated to God, family and country. He has a terrific family, great kids, and would never put his family in danger of being killed by an overzealous, rights-be-damned cop by "staging" a confrontation.
He was out in the sticks, in Texas, with his kid on a hike; and he had a firearm on his person. It was a long gun, a rifle, like many I own. The "assault style" description was most likely provided to the lapdog media by the cop who eff'd up the situation and was trying to cover up his eff-up. Heck, even an old, rusted-to-the-point of not fireable rifle would fit the politically charged "assault style" misnomer... if I beat the snot out of you with the thing.
You guys (or gals) allowed yourselves to be taken in by the liberal, anti-gun spin placed on the story.
CJ is a good dad, a good friend, a good soldier, a good human being. Telling him in not so many words that he deserved what he got is way out of line; but I don't think either of you will ever admit that or apologize to CJ.
In the meantime, for those of us who know and respect CJ, here is a link to a defense fund to help cover his legal fees for this miscarriage of justice: Click HERE
Can’t believe you’re getting attacked over this incident. I’m pretty certain you can’t be disarmed cause someone was upset by your open carry. In fact, there’s a video involving a similar incident that I will post when I get home.
CJ has a lot of friends on FR. My advice is to tread lightly and be respectful of the man's service to our Nation.
Misspelled your handle, CJ.

Albion Wilde alerted me earlier to chickenhawk’s problem. Had two strikes against him. War veteran and leading a group of Boy Scouts. Sent some money to his defense fund.
Classic chicknhawk, They dont care what the law is, the officer replies. Grisham then shoots back, Do you care what the law is?
“HOORAH! It’s an Army thing.” From a cap given to me by the late great Doctor Raoul Demming.
By way of update on my case, last week my attorney, Kurt Glass, finally got a judge to force release of the dashcam footage to us. However, the prosecution asked for and got a gag order on it. So, we are not allowed to talk about or release it publicly. The local judge that was supposed to hear the motion recused himself and the county brought in a judge from San Antonio for some reason. By Texas law, he has to state a reason for recusing himself, so Kurt is running that down. There is a smelly fish in Bell County.

How this advances the 2nd Amendment is beyond me.
