A few years ago I was watching a show about seals in Hawaii. The narrator mentioned that the man studying the seals was being supported by a grant from a university.
I thought wouldn’t it be nice to spend my days being payed to count seals in Hawaii. I would wear board shorts and sunglasses and ride around in a Zodiac. I would draw pictures of seals. I would give them cutesy little names. All on somebody else’s dime.
Wouldn’t life be sweet?
There was a Reader's Digest article about the same time which exposed how the government gave away grant money for the most frivolous reasons.
