Israel HAS gun control. It is not much better than Mexican. It is not gun control that makes difference between two nations.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the in both cases - Mexico and Israel - isn't the average citizen effectively denied the right to own a weapon for self-defense?

I'm not talking here about reservists, security officers, or anything like that. I'm talking about the average person.

From Wikipedia:

“Mexico has strict gun laws. Mexican citizens and legal residents may purchase new non-military firearms for self-protection or hunting only after receiving approval of a petition to the Defense Ministry, which performs extensive background checks."

and

“It is forbidden in Israel to own any kind of firearm, including air pistols and rifles, without a firearms license."

"The regulation for gun ownership became stricter following the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. Gun ownership in Israel is considered a privilege and not a right."

None of this has merit in any discussion re the United States of America...What they have or do not have has no bearing on our 2nd Amendment Rights.
