"...block people who are suspected of being dangerous from possessing a firearm..."
"...allow psychologists, nurses, family therapists and counselors to ask that a person's name be entered into the national background check system..."

Never been read in CO. I guess.
We need to stop sugar coating it. “the reason we own guns is to protect ourselves from those wanting to take them from us.”

Ooo, a slight rewrite would make things amusing:
“DENVER Legislation that black people who are suspected of being dangerous from possessing a firearm is expected to be introduced in Colorado, setting up the next fight over gun control laws.”
Not terribly grammatically correct, but you see the idea.
"We need to be concerned about people having guns who really can't handle them responsibly," McCann said Thursday.
"The main purpose of the bill is to identify people, because of mental health or substance abuse issues, who really should not be able to purchase and possess weapons."
I'm sorry but if the Democrats are going to go back to 1860 and start rolling back civil rights they need to commit people in order to do it or go before a judge.

I agree. Probably a test case to see if it can be put into obamacare law.
most counselors I’ve known are recovering addicts and/or have more mental problems than most. That’s what attracts them to that field.
The NRA knew that SB197 was unconstitutional (re. domestic violence accusations: restraining orders) and didn’t send us anything about it that I saw. But publicized NRA attention to the mental bill that bigwigs of both political parties have been screaming to get for years is a start. I applaud them for it.
Don’t allow the right of subgroups of Americans to be violated, or your Second Amendment right will be violated in the near future, regardless of how important or wealthy you may be. Sorry, but I’m being more blunt now.
Apparently, I wasn’t clear enough on this before and didn’t see it discussed. The socialists/fascists against the Second Amendment use emotion-evoking anecdotes, compromises and incrementalism to eventually get all the control that they desire. I saw what the same constituents did to fathers’ rights and family rights during the ‘90s and since, and how they did it.
Ever see the write up of all the congresscritters? Isn’t a hand full out of all of
them that should be left alone with a box of crayons.
