You, sir, are a rarity these days. Too many people just put in time. They don’t really work. They don’t care how the job is done, or if the job is done.
I’ve had to fetch my home-delivered newspaper from the neighbor’s yard, the middle of the street or stuck in the rose bushes in the front yard. And while the carriers are required to bag each paper, they don’t. I’ve picked up a soggy mess on more than one occasion. One guy who did aim for the porch kept hitting the storm door. I told him, don’t do that; you might shatter the glass in the door. Sure enough, one cold morning the paper hit the door and the glass shattered. No common sense or sheer laziness.
I’m no hero in this. The paper I worked for fined me $1 for every wet or missdelivered paper. I was just looking out for my best financial interest.
