Looking at the Ruger SR1911 - while it's (still) legal here in CT.
Would also welcome knowledgable/experienced FReeper input on relocation options for those able to leave Connecticut.
Preferably somewhere warmer, but not sweltering, family/tax/gun friendly, with some elbow room to enjoy life. Overseas is not off the table.
Texas is like a whole nother country. A free one at that.
And still, you live in California...
Come to Colorado and help us turn the state Red again.
Florida. except a 1911, as a carry, would be uncomfortable.
If you want open space and low humidity, you need to pick some state west of the Rockies. Utah is beautiful and 27 out of 28 of their sheriff’s have signed on to protect the 2A. The Mormons are decent folks and will leave you alone.
Yes. I know. Sadly, the only way I can leave at this time is to walk away from an upside down (thanks to the liberals) mortgage. Cannot do that. Well, may be forced to eventually.
I’m partial to the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina.
Utah’s nice, but a bit crowded.
It's all in the holster.
You simply can’t beat Oklahoma for people. Summer is too hot, winter is too cold, spring is too cold and too hot, fall is perfect. Friendly to gun owners. Reddest state in the Union (all 77 counties have vote R in the last three Presidential elections) Let’s see.... We have college football and the OKC Thunder. Kansas City and Dallas are close. Low cost of living, low crime, low traffic. It’s just a good place to live.
Me too. Exactly.
I am certain that ALOT of other states would welcome you w/ OPEN Arms, BUT PLEASE leave CT and N/E “Ideas” and “ways” of doing things in CT and the N/E. Re-Locate and Learn the “ways” of your new location.
I second Texas. I don’t live there, but if I wouldn’t mind.
Pinging CT FReepers, some interesting ideas may come up here.

We are looking too, planning our move next year. I just want heat, guns, and zero state income tax. Texas has lost the cities to Cali, so that is a no. We are thinking Arizona. I would love to live on the Gulf coast, but the crime rates are through the roof. I still think we should colonize Cuba. But I love heat. Washington State is looking like a serious contender as well. Utah and Idaho are too chilly for us after such a long long winter. Keep us posted on what you find.
Less about carry and more about target & home defense.
My better half is suggesting Texas, even though neither of us have lived there before! And I too keep telling my family in SoCal to get out while they can. :)
