Scenes are altered in James Bond's Skyfall to make the film acceptable for Chinese authorites.
according to reports, some of its scenes have been censored and altered to make it acceptable to the Chinese authorities.
One scene that has been been completely culled takes place in Shanghai, when a French hitman (played by Ola Rapace) is shown shooting a Chinese security guard in the elevator lobby of a skyscraper before preparing for an assassination.
In another scene, filmed in a casino in the Chinese territory of Macau, Daniel Craigs Bond is talking to a hostess, Severine (Berenice Marlohe), about whether her tattoo is the result of her being forced into prostitution at an early age. Although the lines remains intact on the soundtrack, the Chinese subtitles have been changed to suggest that 007 is asking her about her connections to the mob.
Any references made by Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem), the film's villain, about being tortured by Chinese authorities have also been removed.

What I’ve heard about this movie, that might be a good thing!
The problem with the movie goes beyond any specific scene.
For a second there, I thought they might’ve edited the B(l)ond thug out of the film.
Did they insist the plot make sense?
I saw the movie and it was AWFUL.
There’s this scene where this assassin is searching for this lady who’s the head of the UK spies.
It’s night time so it should be easy enough to sneak away. So what does this old lady do? She turns on a huge flashlight and slowly starts walking away although she knows that the bad guy is just 200 feet away!
Techniques that will be coming soon to an American city near you! Courtesy of Your Favorite Oppressive Regime!
They already forced a switch of the villains in the Red Dawn remake from ChiComs to NoKos.
Could not’ve made it any worse.
And, I’m a big 007 fan.
When Sean Connery comes back as James Bond, I will be too.
Already used to happen in American cities. Most major cities had film review boards that would demand all kinds of edits, even above the Hays codes.
The average Chinese viewer probably has already seen the genuine item on a pirate DVD, complete with literal translations of the original dialogue in Chinese subtitles.
I heard about the Shanghai building/elevator scene being heavily edited.
I also heard on John Batchelor’s show the other night that some of Judi Dench’s script in “Casino Royale” was censored and edited by the Chinese. Specifically the part where she says “I miss the Cold War!”
She was told to dub that line again to say “I miss the old times!”
