DeGette had a quality opponent last election and still won overwhelmingly. It’s almost impossible for a Republican to win the Denver congressional district. Last time was 1970 for a one-termer.
The electoral award has to be done on a per district bases so in state fly over country is non-existant. Federal candidates should not be able to visit just one or two major cities and ignore the rest of a state. Essentiall a politician running for pres would have to win the majority of the districts and not just a raw popular vote of those city zombies.
