No, I do NOT agree. I don’t support Sandord and I think once again the GOP is going to throw away a winnable seat via a weak (and morally compromised) candidate.

“Mark Sanford....the name you know.”

So if a candidate only engaged in a little homosexuality and asked for forgiveness, and his policy positions were right, then you would support him?

Again, if it was just getting some nookie on the side that’s one thing.
This guy abandoned his post.

Maybe I wasn't clear. That's what I thought that you were saying. That tolerating any immorality is a slippery slope. I'm sorry that I wasn't more clear.
I thought that you agreed with Its (immorality) a progressive thing. If someone gets away with a lack of principle, they just keep going.

Yup. Ignorant/low information voters depend on name recognition.

RE :”

and his opposition was a lib who said that ‘marriage equality’ was a constitutional right and biblical and she wanted to give illegals the vote and ban my guns, and he was against all that,
it wouldn't be tough to choose between the two.
His having sex with a woman isnt as unnatural as if he had sex with a man.

Look at Romney, he had a un-marred personal life history but had zero integrity on any public issues, except that cutting his taxes was good for us. that was the only one he seemed to think was golden.
That hardly made him a good candidate.

Absolutely. Beside the obvious immorality and sin of adultery (which is just as grave a sin as homosexuality according to the Bible) - his immorality had a direct impact upon the duties he was elected to perform!
He also lied about it! And far from remorseful, he is continuing his affair.
“Please forgive me for my sins, which I intent to continue as soon as I get out of here.” is not repentance, and Christian forgiveness doesn't include returning someone to the post they abandoned! You can forgive the thief who stole from your home, but not invite them back into it.

If he was my employee, not only would I fire him on the spot, but I would do all in my power to make sure nobody else hired him.
To: dfwgator
Absolutely - but now apparently we need to fall in line and let this guy be the face of the party in South Carolina and elsewhere - because South Carolinians were in a forgiving mood and didn't think a bit of abandonment of official duties, lies, and adultery were THAT big of a deal!
I still cannot believe he asked his ex to run his campaign!
Yikes! No doubt we won't be hearing or seeing the last of bad judgment and immorality from Sanford.

Romney was a compromise. And you want to do it again. It does not work! Conservatives compromise and lose every time.

I have read all the comments on this thread and I couldn’t help to think back to the election bid of Romney.
Even through I was one of the people who was dead set against him as our candidate, he was chosen and we had to live with it.
In the ensuing process, the democrats/socialists used all the ‘talking points’ republicans/conservatives as their basis for the reelection of obama.
It worked and the liberal Sanford will face is probably salivating at the thought it can work again.
So carry on, the liberals are taking notes.

In what way do you presume I want a compromise candidate? I wish we didn’t have a morally compromised candidate and risk losing a winnable seat. But too late now. NC GOP voters wanted to be Huckabee theologians and think forgiveness means he deserves elected office.

Bunk. We lose through compromise and lack of principle.
