The United Nations says a growing number of Haitians are not getting enough to eat.
The U.N. mission in the Caribbean nation of 10 million people said in a monthly bulletin Tuesday that a spike in malnutrition has been recorded in some areas since October.
At least one in five households faces a serious food deficit and acute malnutrition despite efforts to reduce hunger, the report said.

They need to stop having children.
It’s that simple.
And you want to know why? The UN and various humanitarian agencies keep sending food there, and what does it do?
It puts Haitian farmers out of business, who can compete with free food?
Send doctors there, and what does it do? It puts Haitian doctors out of business, who can compete with free doctors?
That is a very good point.
That should make Mickey happy.
That headline hurts my head.
Haiti is a crap hole. If I lived there, I wouldn't want to bring children in to the world. Unfortunately, poor people tend to crank out the most kids - so they will continue to produce more babies to go hungry. I guess the UN can feed them (with our tax money) just enough for them to get older and reproduce some more.
Those limo driving bureaucrats sure know the extortion racket.
I guess we are not sending enough $$$$ to pay off the politicians and bureaucrats while leaving enough to buy rice for the peasants. I’m not really there is an amount that that high . . . I’ll have to consult with Baby Doc and get back with you.
I live in south Florida and the ones who came here straight from Haiti has a permanent scowl on their face. Most are really nice, but they can’t erase the life they had before.
Just be careful what you say and who you say it to in Tonton Macoute land. After all, it was Aristide, who said “Necklacing is very nice-smelling!”
Moosheel should get her butt over to Haiti and fix this nutritional problem now !
Why is it that the other half of the same island (Dominican Republic) doesn’t go hungry ?
Why is it that the Dominicans can actually farm enough to feed their families ?
Maybe because they actually farm instead of sitting around waiting for others to feed them .
Maybe because instead of stripping the land bare they actually plant stuff back into the ground .... what a concept
People should not be going hungry on a warm tropical island that is surrounded by waters teaming with fish . People should not be going hungry on an island that has weather nice enough to farm year round .Oh but that would actually take some work and it would actually take electing leaders that don’t get rich keeping you down .
Or learn how to play baseball.
According to Haitian friends, there is no way to make a surplus and gain a little prosperity for yourself and others. If you plant fruit trees, they will be cut down young for firewood. If you have a goat for milk, someone will kill it. If you open a little shop, a gang will come in at night and take the shelves of the wall.
Gangs and voodoo priests take, take, take. You can’t defend what you have unless you have your own gang, so better to have close to nothing like your neighbors. The only way to get rich in Haiti is to wait until the government is overthrown and then ride up on the coattails of the new government.
The Haitians are crossing over into the DR enough to noticeably soil paradise. They set up road side stands to sell fruit or wares and dumps their trash right there in the street. The government won’t stop them and the trash is building up in Santo Domingo and other areas.
The DR has had their socialist experiments from time to time. They are never completely free of the socialist infection. These elements in the government wont take the proper action to beat back the invasion and discourage border crossings. Sound familiar?

The UN wants to see more 'people eating' in Haiti
How many and how much is enough?
