Which one is the fiddle player?
Queen Latifah is a rapper from Newark, New Joisy. But don’t let that stand in the way of the show.
You know what else they “may” not have money for?
I work for a property management company, and the manager of our one subsidized project called me the other day, and said that when she was submitting her monthly request for the feds to pay their portion of the rents, there was a warning that, due to the sequester, funds for low-income housing subsidies might “not be available”.
She was worried that we wouldn’t get paid, and then of course, we would not have the money to pay the building mortgage. I just laughed and told her that this was just Obama trying to scare people. Still, I think it says a lot that he is willing to prioritize a concert to benefit only himself over a program that benefits millions of his brothas and sistas.
Awesome lineup...but Cyndi Lauper?
Booker T directing Al Green, Charlie Musslewhite, Mavis Staples and Steve Cropper ... doesn’t get a lot better.

Because nothing says “Memphis Soul” like Justin Timberlake.
Jeanne Greene had more soul in her left hand than did most of the singers in Memphis and is why Percy Sledge, Elvis, Albert King, The Box Tops, and many others used her as backup on their famous songs. She recorded in Memphis and Mussel Shoals. Her last recordings were with Carl Perkins. Rarely does one see her credited but she was instrumental in many well known recordings. One sees her as one of the two female backups on the Concert for Bangladesh with Eric Clapton and George Harrison.
