Lobbyists Betty Gallo and Ron Pinciaro have been pushing for gun control for years with mixed success.
As a result, Gallo was stunned Monday at the sweeping nature of a bipartisan bill on assault weapons, ammunition, magazines, and background checks that could pass in the state legislature as early as Wednesday.
This is really amazing, Gallo said in an interview.
She added, Two years ago, we lost a ban on high-capacity magazines, and we couldnt get it out of the judiciary committee.
Today, the proposed ban on the magazines is highly comprehensive. The bill calls for the immediate ban on the sale, purchase and importation of the magazines. Buying, selling, importing or transferring the magazines for free would be a Class D felony. The maximum penalty for a Class D felony is five years in prison and a fine of $5,000.
Ron Pinciaro, the executive director of Connecticut Against Gun Violence for the past 11 years, said, This couldnt have happened in any other state in any other year.
Transacting new magazines here is not a felony, and presently-possessed mags are grandfathered. (Plus, many sheriffs including my own have stated they will not enforce the law at all.) As much as I hate what is happening here, what has just happened in CT is far worse.
Well, if they fail again, that will merely be proof that the laws didn’t go far enough.
Obama travelled to CT several times during the election, and during one of the recent natural disasters. I believe that during one of these trips Malloy and Obama met and discussed Malloy getting some nice Fed job with Obama. That hasn’t happened yet and I beleive Malloy is trying to show Obama he is worthy.
He knows he only won by 6k votes, after a judge ordered the Dem stronghold of Bridgeport to extend voting two hours due to Ballot shortages. He has made no mention of running again in 2014. I suspect he is tying to do what ever it takes to move up higher in the Dem party and use CT to do it.
Did the gun bill extend to poptarts too and outlaw packages of 10 or more???
More felonies created to nail good people. Assh-—s.
For a sheet-metal box with a spring in it. An unjust government is not legit.
“Time to get rid of the New England states and the left coast.”
Maine has a conservative TEA Party governor and, as a mostly rural state, people here like their firearms.
Thankfully, we’re not going over the deep end like Connecticut.
all this crap will be challenged in the courts.
Sort of like Chickenlooper here.
[[This is really amazing, Gallo said in an interview.]]
This is really amazing that we are shoving htis on the American people- violatign hteir rights, and they sit there and do NOTHING to stop us- I’m just really amazed we are gettign away with this-” Was what she really meant
Two little words.... Molon Labe....
Yet another fine example of why gun owners can’t trust Republicans. They stab us in the back anytime they get the chance.
The sooner Malloy is out of CT the better.
I'm hope they'd be quite happy if this happened more often. I'm sure it's a price they're more than willing to pay.
Yep, nothing to see here. The courts will take care of it. Besides, there's always the next election, voters will take care of it.
I hope we can tie-up this BS for years and get it all reversed. With the SCOTOS’ make-up, especially Roberts, I have my doubts. If not, CWII is just around the corner and getting nearer. This isn’t going to end well for America.
They’re competing with Chicago for Murder Capital of the World Caused by Draconian Anti-Second-Amendment Laws.
Erect signs on every road on the state lines:
“GUN FREE STATE — THOSE WHO DON’T OBEY
WILL FIND A TARGET-RICH ENVIRONMENT HERE”
Time for ALL gun manufacturers to move out of the northeast and CT in particular.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
