FWIW, a friend just got a lever action Rossi 357, It punched a 50C group at 25 yds with open sights.

I just went to the store for some ammo and ALL the 30-30 was gone, and most everythjign else was low in supply, but there was a ton of 30-06

Anyone here know why that might be? I was going to get a 30-30 or a 30-06 and decided on a nice used Marlin (like new) for $299

Should I maybe have gotten (or still get) a 30-06? (for when you want to reach out and touch someone at more than 600 yards)

Heck, I can do that with my Mosin (of course at 25 yards, the muzzle is touching the target, but still!).

Seriously though, that sounds good with the Rossi.
