North Korea announced Saturday that it had entered a "state of war" with South Korea and would deal with every inter-Korean issue accordingly.

You forgot to mention a VP who is crazier than the Joker in the Batman movie and a POTUS who is obviously a psychopath.
A real president should have dropped a bomb on the north ages ago instead of playing footsie with the little tyrant and his old man. Heck if we had fought the Korean War to win, we wouldn’t be in this predicament. Since WWII we have entered conflicts only to fool around. There hasn’t been a decisive victory. Too many dang politicians meddling instead of letting the military do its job.
Doesn't that make the supposition that the SORKs just sit there and let it happen? Don't they (we) have munitions that basically reverse engineer the artillery/rocket trajectory and lay a huge barrage back on the source?
My nephew is there, 2nd Lt. fresh out of military college, his first deployment.
Excuse me, but how many "inter-Korean" issues are there, approximately? They've been in a "state of war" since, what, 1950?
Unfortunately, this ass has the ability to wipe out possibly millions of people.
An attack on South Korea ought to be suicide for these fruitcakes, but they're not necessarily dealing with a full deck.
It doesn't make for a terribly pretty situation.
“Don’t they (we) have munitions that basically reverse engineer the artillery/rocket trajectory and lay a huge barrage back on the source?”
These are conventional artillery shells and rockets. I don’t see us having any technology to stop anything incoming like that. We would just have to pinpoint their mobile locations and destroy them with guided bombs. Now we do have Patriot Anti-Missile interceptor battery systems set up along the DMZ in case they launched missiles like Scuds (what Saddam used on Israel) at Seoul. They will be useful.
yes they do, and they know where a good portion of it is positioned. However the north will get the first shots in. They have A LOT of artillery, all within range of the 20 million people in Seoul.
500 rockets and/or artillery shells would ruin the day for some folks but it wouldn’t come close to wiping out an enormous city like Seoul.
500 rockets and artillery wipe out Seoul? Do you have any idea how large Seoul is? 10,000,000 people. 500 rockets will pi$$ them off. But it’s DAMNED close to the border.
I could be wrong but it seems like I read they have some almost unbelievable amount of artillery. Maybe in the hundreds of thousands.
Didn’t Napoleon say “artillery kills soldiers”.
Depends on how much payload the rockets are carrying. There will be destruction guaranteed. And besides. 500 hundred are expected in the first hour. What about the 2nd or 3rd or 4th hour and beyond?
NK has more than 13,000 artillery pieces aimed at Seoul.

May God Bless him and keep him safe. We were on Oki for three years and that felt too close for comfort.
As an aside the Japanese love fireworks and set them off about every other day, first time random fireworks started at 10pm we thought for sure it was NK.
We still have friends in that part of the world... hoping he is bluffing but praying for their safety.
Yup. That’s a long way from 500.
Artillery has diminishing return in quantities like that. Having hundreds of thousands of pieces of artillery is one thing, coordinating them as an effective force against the South Korean air force is quite another. I see acres and acres of scrap metal.
I think the first hour is all they get. The South isn’t going to sit idly by and let it happen after they are awakened by the first wave. And I agree, the payloads will be large. But I doubt they’d use nukes.
Seoul has 20 million people and its 35 miles from the DMZ.
13,000 artillery units including 170mm artillery batteries and 240mm rocket launchers.
Not to mention the chemical and bio weapons.
Oh and then theres the 1.2 million man army. Not the best equipped or trained but then they only have to go 35 miles.
