Barack Obama is a serious man. Yes, he likes to golf, and yes, he ran a campaign with cutesy Facebook pictures and seemingly inane Flash slideshows like “Life of Julia.” No, he does not seem interested in the mechanics of legislation, nor does he seem adept at negotiation. But the weird condescension his opponents display toward him is ludicrously wrongheaded. They seem eager to believe he is a lightweight, and he is not. Obama is very possibly a world-historical political figure, and until those who oppose him come to grips with this fact, they will get him wrong every time.

The article ultimately has no point except to claim there’s no way to successfully criticize Obama.
If it wasn’t for a complacent republican house, Obama couldn’t pull all this crap. We knew what Obama would do but we at least expected a fight.

Barack Obama is a serious man. The professional and political right needs to be as serious as he is to make sure the Age of Obama ends with him.
If we had an UNbiased media, 0bama would still be picketing in Chicago with the Black Panthers as a community organizer.
Obama seemed bored in his first term, because he was. His handlers had him trying to govern. Obama isn’t smart enough for that. Obama is cunning. Obama’s training as a community organizer makes him quite skilled in subversion.
This term, Obama’s handlers have let him go, or perhaps, with nothing to lose, Obama has chosen his direction. Obama is crushing conservatives, and ruling the Chicago way. I would present his de facto gun control as an example. No executive order, no legislation, simply have DHS buy up all the ammunition.
Until/unless there is a real leader to fight this piece of human garbage, we as a nation are totally screwed.
Oh, and.. 0bama lies, Holder lies, Napolitano lies, Rice lies, Hillary lies.. AND THE MEDIA LIES FOR THEM.

Obama does not have rare skill or political genius.
He is inept in many ways. The only reason the far left is seeing some of its goals accomplished for now is because they’ve decided on a no holds barred lie at all costs way of doing things.
It wouldn’T matter who was in the Oval Office. The media now lies at every turn about everything. That’s the only reason Obama is where he is.
Been saying America if finished as a Constitutional land of the free for years. I could see how this communists BLACK piece of garbage would destroy America if he got the second term. Romney in his place would at least returned to an effective Senate and House and good business practices would have done much to stop the communists from taking over America. I got lots of hell from the uninformed and many so called conservatives telling me I was nuts and America would never become controlled by the communists. To those nuts, explain where we are and have gone and no real stopping. Currently we have no real stopping power but just fancy words, and without works, words will do nothing. America is being screwed and little can be done unless we get the Senate and keep the House in 2014.
He’s been trained for this his entire life and he’s dishonest, arrogant and greedy enough to have no conscience about lying to the world. I believe his whole environmental crap, not to mention his foreign policy, is paid for by the Arabs who also paid for his education and who knows what else.
His “election” was a coup - right in our faces. Many of his voters we bought off with our own money. What would have seemed unthinkable and outrageous 20 years ago is now tolerated as business as usual. Despite 9/11.

Podhoretz has it wrong of course. Not many regard Obama with condescension in the way Podhoretz means.
If Obama is just another Democrat president who doesn’t represent a threat to historical America as McCain, Romney, Rove and many FReepers claim, then GOPe is right and most FReepers are wrong.
Perhaps Podhoretz is just waking to the severity of the threat and is alarmed at the paucity of real opposition to Obama, but can’t yet bring himself to admit that the “extremists” are right.
