The GOP's $10M Could Fund Long-Suffering Under-Funded Black Conservative Outreaches
American Thinker ^ | March 28, 2013 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 03/29/2013 9:26:57 AM PDT by neverdem

All over TV, Democrat pundits along with the MSM are laughing their derrieres off and putting a negative spin on the Republicans announcing that they will spend 10 million dollars on minority outreach. Usual suspect Al Sharpton said in reference to the GOP outreach, "Money can't buy us."

Republicans believe the left's spin that they lost the presidential election because they are the party of old white guys and stuffy goody-two-shoes values. In keeping with their characteristic bigotry of low expectations, the left advised the GOP to lower the bar to attract minorities, making the party more inclusive. As a black person, I find this offensive. And we all know that the left wants to help the GOP win new voters...

--snip--

Sponsoring Reach Your Dreams rallies and other long-suffering under-funded black conservative outreaches is the wisest way for the GOP to spend its $10 mil. Frances Rice of Black Republican Magazine and Mychal Massie of Project 21, to name only a few, have been fighting on the front lines, preaching conservatism to minorities for several years...and receiving little to no support from the GOP.

The GOP must do a better job showcasing black conservatives.

Unquestionably, the left will deem GOP efforts to expose minorities to black conservatives exploitative. Well, duh! They want us to fail. Please tell me our side is done with allowing the left to set the rules of engagement.

Defaulting to Liberalism Lite is not the way to win low-info minority voters. The most inclusive and compassionate outreach campaign is one which informs minorities that the Yellow Brick Road to reaching their dreams is conservatism.

GOP, call me. Let's get these Reach Your Dreams rallies started.

The Red and the Black - Seeking black votes could be the GOP’s secret weapon.

This thread is proof that we have low info FReepers! Neither essay promotes pandering!

Do conservatives have a white outreach?

While I hate identity politics and pitting each other in groups, I understand where Mr. Marcus (a FReeper) is coming from.

Maybe instead of viewing it as identity politics, look at it as a rescue mission for groups who have been targeted and victimized by the Dems.

This is why I've been so vehemently preaching a massive conservative outreach to Detroit. I'm not talking about government solutions. I'm talking about an outreach to rebuild faith and the family and education. If conservatives could rebuild Detroit, it would burn the plantation house to the ground.

Personally I'd like to see "Runaway Slave" taken to Detroit as a roadshow and seminar series. Bring in the conservatives who where in the film as well as men Like Ben Carson (who is already a local Detroit hero) Lloyd Marcus, Alfonzo Rachael, Star Parker, Mia Love etc.

There are no easy answers' but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.

Ditto.
Someone suggested putting Mitt Romney in charge of Detroit. Funny at first but it would probably work.

One thing is certain, not one dime of my money will be spent by the GOP.

I haven’t given to them in the last 8 years and won’t be for the next 8 if they keep going the way they are.

Agreed. I don't like identity or race politics, I think that some situations need to start there to open the dialogue.

Fine. whatever.

I am actually glad they are not spending it on conservative outreach, they’d just be spending that money to spew lies to us to get us back on the RINO Plantation.

“Outreach”

Why do Conservatives use Democrat words?

We don’t do “outreach.”

We offer a set of political and personal principles.

If someone - any race, any gender, any religion - agrees with our principles, that person will be welcomed with open arms.

I think Rick Snyder has some good people and good business outreach people on the job. I’m more concerned about returning true conservatism and hope to the streets.

Last summer (The Detroit Malik Shabazz) threatened to burn the city to the ground if the city imposed an emergency manager. The city did and Shabazz responded by doing the right thing. He gathered up volunteers to board up homes, cut grass on those lots and clean up trash. They bagged the trash for the city to pick up and the city just left it sitting there.

I don’t love Shabazz and what he stands for but he did something good and I think it would have been great if some conservatives had gotten together to rent some trucks to haul away the trash that the city just left to rot.

BTW the emergency manager law took effect at 12:00 AM Thursday morning and the interim superintendent of Detroit public schools got his termination notice at 12:01.

At least 5 more DPS board members were also fired yesterday.

I agree we should showcase black conservatives. However, do not expect to get more than 10% of the black vote. Their culture has utterly collapsed.

Another way to look at it, if you saw a woman being raped in the street, you wouldn’t wait to check her demographic voting status, you would kick of the rapist. The dems are raping the African American community and telling them it is ok because they bought dinner. We shouldn’t sit back any longer.

Don't look now but "White culture" is hot on its heels. The simple fact is that so called "Black culture" was mostly manufactured as a means of dividing us.

Exactly. What would Reagan do?

All great change in America begins at the dinner table.

We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.

The problem is that such rallies and similar events do little to sway voting preferences. That takes politically savvy, long term organizational effort — and the GOP chronically fails to do that even with its base.
